Hi all - I've seen the Nebraska program listed a few times in these threads and wanted to let everyone know, as someone who applied, that it's VERY small and they're really backlogged. According to the secretary that I spoke with in the Ed Ph.D. program, at the most, they were accepting three people for the upcoming year. In addition, they lost my GRE scores and then lost my application. . .neither time let me know; I only found out as I followed up numerous times. Luckily, my contact there was great; otherwise, the application process was a mess. Allison
OK...pretend for a moment that nobody knows what the heck you're talking about. WHAT Nebraska program???
The Nebraska (Lincoln). . . online graduate program. . . It's mentioned in many threads, especially the recent ones. . .
Re: The Nebraska (Lincoln). . . Please keep in mind that not everybody reads every single thread on this message board. Also, it is customary to include a link to the school or program you are talking about. Do you mean the University of Nebraska in Lincoln? There are several graduate programs in Nebraska, so don't assume people are going to know which program you're referencing unless you include a link or a LOT more detail to yours posts. My .02.
Yeah... but there's the rub: Our guess is required. I'm with TCord1964 on this. As I've posted elsewhere: Thread-starters: PLEASE PROVIDE A LINK IN YOUR THREAD-STARTING POSTS TO THE WEB SITE OF THE ENTITY ABOUT WHICH YOU'RE INQUIRING SO THAT THOSE WHOSE OPINIONS YOU SEEK WILL NOT BE BURDENED WITH HAVING TO GOOGLE SAID ENTITY AND FIND ITS WEB SITE THEMSELVES; AND ALSO TO ENSURE THAT THE WEB SITE THEY FIND IS, IN FACT, THAT OF THE ENTITY ABOUT WHICH YOU'RE INQUIRING. It's terribly annoying when thread-starters assume too much; it's even more annoying when they're dismissive to those who tell them so, which dismissiveness drewbobcat's "online graduate program... it's mentioned in many threads, especially the recent ones..." seems to convey. Maybe I'm wrong... but that's my take on it. There's a methodology -- perhaps even an art -- to asking questions properly and in a way which does not end-up being an imposition on those expected to answer... or so it is my opinion.
Thanks, Jack. . . Yes, I was referring to the Ed Ph.D. program at Lincoln. I wrote that in the original post and thought that since this was a distance learning forum, it would be clear enough. It makes complete sense to add a weblink, especially with so many threads, and I'll do so in the future. Take care - Allison
Hi Allison: Welcome aboard. Thanks for the info. I understood what you meant. Now for a guess--a happy guess--are you a Peruvian? In the Nebraska sense of the term? I ask in light of your user name with "bobcat" in it. All best wishes to you for whatever holidays you observe or endure. Janko Preotul
I just opened this thread to see what about Nebraska would cause someone to open a thread about it. As a comedienne said back in the '80s, "Nebraska is proof that hell is full and the dead are walking the earth!"
loess is more That's not very nice. Besides, Dick Cavett doesn't live there any more and they've got Carhenge.
Thanks for the update, Allison! On a positive note, hopefully one of US will be among the 2 or 3 admitted to the EdD program, so that the mysteries of DL in Nebraska will become ever more clear!
I agree, Steve. . . I hope so too! I just thought it might help some who were interested in the program to know how their application process works . And nope, Janko, not Peruvian; the Bobcat just refers to a nickname . Happy Holidays! Allison
Well, that's good to know. Did they suggest that they were interested in expanding the program to meet the quantity demanded at that tuition rate? That program's not at the top of my list, but it is on the list, so I'd like to know.... Thanks, -=Steve=-
