    Dantes on a college transcript

I need to get my dantes exams on a college transcript. The local community college will not put them on a transcript for me (They require that I take 9 credits before they will include them in my credit history). Any ideas?

The ideal situation would be this:

Apply to a C.C. or University

Have dantes send my scores to the school

Once the credits are posted, request a transcript

This way would be very inexpensive, If possible.

I’m trying to avoid credit banking or enrolling in on of the Big 3’s A.A. programs.

Anyone out there done this? What’s the name of the college that will transcribe FEMA credits? Maybe they will?

There are two community colleges that transcript FEMA IS courses.

Frederick Community College (semester hours system) and Clackamas Community College (quarter hour system).

The costs at either are essentially equal. FCC accepts more courses for credit than does CCC.

I don't know whether either would transcript CLEP/DANTES exams but I'd expect that if you apply to the school and register for one of their programs, that they would. You can always ask...

This may help you. This is a link for a transcript service done by ACE. The set up fee is $35.00.

I would rather have it on a community college or 4 yr college transcript directly. Anyone?

Well you have the need to open a credit banking account. This will give you the opportunity to move any and all of your testing related credits to a college transcript. It will also allow you to place any ACE evaluated work or independent study class credits on your transcript as well.

This is the best choice for you in your current situation. I believe that other schools offer credit banking services. You may want to look around. I recommend this one becuase I know it works the way it claims that it does.

I used the TESC credit banking program to document all of my FEMA and NFA courses.

    Good Luck!

    Hi,
I also have a few FEMA credits I would like to convert to RA credit at some point.

Here are my concerns about the TESC credit banking service...

Let's say I transcript the FEMA credits at TESC and then have TESC send the transcript to Excelsior for inclusion in my Excelsior degree.

In future, if an employer or graduate school requires that I send official transcripts from each school 'attended' (mailed by the school directly), would I only be required to send my final Excelsior transcript or would I also need to send them a TESC transcript (since the FEMA courses will be listed as "transfer credits" from TESC to Excelsior on my Excelsior degree transcript?

If this is so, does that mean that I would have to keep paying $350 every year to TESC so that they would keep my transcript active? Or is the $350 a one-time fee (as long as I don't need to add any more credits in the future)?

In other words, if I pay TESC $350 to transcript my FEMA courses, will the $350 allow me to request my transcript from them at any time in the future or is it only available for the one year of "service" that the $350 covers?

Eesh! I hope I explained this well enough.

    Thanks,

I will attempt to give you the full skinny on credit banking with TESC.

You would pay the initial credit banking fee based on the number of hours you anticipate transferring. When your account reaches the number of agreed upon hours (or a years time) the account is closed to new credit. If you anticipate that you will need/want to add additional credit hours in the future, you can simply pay the appropriate fee again for that year / hours combination.

Once the credit is on your transcript, it is permanent. Just as if you were a student. If you never decide to add more credit, you would never need to pay the banking fee again. You would only be required to pay the standard transcript fee to the school each time you request a copy of your transcript be sent to another institution or school. (I believe the fee is $15.00)

As for college transfer and transcript..... The answer is yes. TESC will show on your transcript as the source of the FEMA credit. You will need to provide any future school an original copy of this transcript when you apply/enroll.

One nice thing I can tell you is that your TESC transcript does not distinguish a credit banking student from an enrolled student. Anyone reading your transcript from TESC will see the credits as student credits.

    Good luck....

    Hi David,

That is absolutely perfect! Exactly what I wanted to hear.

    Thanks for your response,

be careful about what you want to accomplish...

If I open a credit bank account with TESC and have FEMA send TESC a transcript, then TESC will put those FEMA credits on my transcript.

If I later want to enroll in Excelsior or COSC or East Podunk State, then I must have FEMA send a transcript to them directly because it is unlikely that tansfer credit will additionally transfer from a secondary source. Or, East Podunk State will not take TESC word that I completed a course at Big City College -- East Podunk wants to see the sealed transcript firsthand in most cases.

This is true of transfer credit at any institution though exceptions do exist. Every school has their own set of rules about what they will and will not accept in transfer and under what circumstances.

Let's say that I took a Biology 101 class at Coker College (RA private in SC) and I have some applicable credit (14 hours) applied from ACE specifications for military MOS. Coker now has a transcript for me with 17 hours (14 ACE and 3 for their course).

Then I decide to transfer this to Coastal Carolina University (RA public SC). Coastal Carolina will transfer the 3 hour Bio101 course but not the 14 hours of military stuff -- they will conduct their own evaluation of that. Even though the 14 hours is listed on a Coker College transcript.

(a real case scenario by the way)

The same will happen with the FEMA courses -- some schools will award no credit for those courses even if they are transcripted at CCC and FCC while others will award credit because they are transcripted at FCC and/or CCC while others will award credit based on their own requirements.

I don't want to disagree with Coach, but I will share my experience with you so that you have my point of reference.

Like coach, I have military training that is on my ACE transcript along with a few skillsoft classes and work from the National Fire Academy.

I opened a credit banking account at TESC. I sent my ACE transcript to them along with my FEMA and my NFA as well. All of the credits were posted. FEMA and NFA classes were listed on the transcript as credit originating at TESC. The military credits evaluations were noted on my transcript as ACE evaluated credits in XXXXX subject area.

With that being said.... You have a higher probability of a future school wanted to look at your ACE transcript directly. Not all schools categorize ACE credit the same way. I have had colleges take my "upper division" ACE work and reduce it to "lower division" because that is the school's policy.

I have never had this problem with the FEMA classes on my TESC transcript. Not all schools will allow you to apply them to degrees, but the schools will have to acknowledge that you in fact have them. They certainly meet most degrees elective course requirements.

    Regards,
