    Hello All,

What are your opinions on receiving multiple awards from the same institution? For example, when I complete my BSc award at one university, would it be wise to roll right into a MSc award program at the same school?

Locally, opinion seems to indicate that different schools be used for each successive award, as it is believed sticking with one narrows your view and allows you to master the process of the school.

Others say stick with what you know, want, and makes you comfortable.

Note I am ultimately heading to a PhD in my DL studies (if this has any bearing).

    Regards,

    Christian

I've traditionally avoided this route, mainly for aesthetic reasons; it just looks better to have more schools on my resume. But I don't see anything wrong with doing more than one degree at the same school, as long as you feel comfortable with the idea.

    Cheers,

I don't think this has much bearing in the "real world." I didn't have a choice in the matter (my university didn't offer graduate degrees when I sought one, and the university where I earned my masters's degree didn't offer the doctorate.

    Hello, Christian!

Finishing another degree at a higher level and at same university doesn't seem a bad idea to me (like a master's after completing a bachelor's). However, finishing another degree at the same level and at the same university (like another bachelor's, associate's, etc.)...I wouldn't do it. For example, I might register for a technical certificate in the near future, and even though this is a certificate, I don't want to take it at my local alma matter. Aside from aesthetic reasons like Tom was pointing out, I want to leave my alma matter's transcript as it is.

    Take care,

Good point Karlos. I was mulling over a certain GradCert after completing my degree at the same institution but now that seems like a bad idea. Thanks!

And thanks to everyone here who has posted their opinions to my question. [IMG]
