    Hi everyone,

My name is Rick Corbett, and I'm happy to say I'll be (finally) graduating with two degrees at the end of next year (a BA in Spanish and one in Political Science). I'd really like to get an MA as well, but I'm planning on moving to the West Coast (USA) (I'm an actor and most of the work is there), and I doubt I'll have a flexible schedule. Can anyone recommend good online MA programs? I'm especially interested in social sciences, hard sciences, and language arts. I'm somewhat of a renaissance guy. If there are needed prereqs, I'd be happy to try and get those through the same program if needed.

Thanks a lot for all your help!

    Rick,

If you could give us an idea as to what field you would like to get your M.A. in that would aid in narrowing down suggestions.

Wow, super fast response, thank you. Yes, I can definitely narrow it for you, I'm sorry. I've been searching online for a long tiem and have yet to find some really good programs in certain catergories that I'm wanting, especially the language programs.

Here are some subjects I'm considering getting a masters in:

    Psychology
    Nutrition
    Geography - Cultural
    International Studies / Relations
    Political Science
    Creative Writing
    Spanish, Portuguese, French
    Linguistics

Besides psychology, creative writing, and nutrition, things I know could really help me, my main focus is on gaining credentials and knowledge that will help me bring the world closer together, one might say. I'm really looking for something that will boost my credibility as a public speaker and public image who really knows what he's talking about.

Any help would be greatly apprecited. (About the languages and creative writing: these are less for credentials and more for practical skills and practice that I would gain).

    Thank you again!

I want to thank you all SO MUCH for your help. I have some pretty good options now that I'm going to explore more in-depth soon. I'm wondering, does anyone know of online degrees conducted in other languages? I'm fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese so it'd be kind of neat to explore options with those as well...it's be double cool because I'd be practicing the language at the same time I'd be getting a degree in something else. (I'll post another post on this specifically so everyone can benefit).

Jimmy, thanks a lot. The acting's going well. If you see me on TV or the big screen one day and hear about my master's degrees you'll know you had a part ;) Also, Libertarians for Life is one of my favorite political groups! I'm a part of a vegan pro-life community as well. Important stuff.

Janko, thanks uncle :) ::hands you a smoothie and some sunflower seeds::

    Peace always

You're welcome, Rick. Keep your politics private if you want to make in Hollywood. Not a lot of pro-life folks out there.

Click here and then scroll down until you get to the psychology programs. It is regionally accredited and is 100% DL, so it will not interfere with your work schedule. ;)

Additionally, if national accreditation is not something that will hinder you professionally, look at the schools listed on the site.

California College for Health Sciences and California Coast University are two DETC schools with reasonable fees that have programs in which you expressed interest.

    Getting an MA

I did the MA History (Imperialism and Culture) at Sheffield Hallam University. It is a respectable accredited institution (Royal Charter.) The beauty of it was its fees: less than $5000 US.

You might also look at the M.Litt culture at The University of Strathclyde - another British University, purely because I think M.Litt sounds good.

    Re: Getting an MA

Are you sure it has a royal charter? Isn't Sheffield Hallam one of the 1992 universities?

Just because an institution is British and a university, doesn't imply that it has a Royal Charter.
