Hi Guys One of my close relative works in the Supply Chain industry. He wants to get certified by the Insitute of Supply Management. And get a CPM designation. He asked me if it would be worth doing it... More details about this program can be found here: http://www.ism.ws/Certification/CPMEvolution.cfm Any insights? Thanks
You and your relative might want to look at the various web pages returned in this Google search to see what other kinds of supply chain management trade organizations, certifications, recognitions and training programs are floating around out there. What I'm saying is, you might want to kinda' bone-up on what does and does not matter -- i.e., what is and is not impressive -- in that particular industry... and then decide if that to which you linked us in your thread-starting post actually matters in the larger supply chain management scheme of things. Just a suggestion.
mfh, If your relative is serious about the supply management profession, I would seriously encourage him/her to pursue the C.P.M. professional certification. ISM (previously known as the National Association of Purchasing Management (NAPM) has been around for a long time and is the premier professional association for purchasing and supply managers. I consider the C.P.M. to be the gold standard professional certification in the field. In addition, I believe the MBA and C.P.M. combination is considered to be the credential to have for purchasing and supply managers. My C.P.M. has served me well in my career.
I was seriously planning to study for this certification about a year ago. But due to time constraints and other commitments i have postponed this for the near future. I would study this for personal gains and networking with local groups.
