I wanted to post these programs in case anyone was interested. I sent an email regarding the tuition rate for non residents. I'll post the information once received. My brother graduated from this school before it became a university, like UNA it has been around since about 1830 and is fairly well received and has ACBSP
    accreditation.

Athens State University is a great University that has been working on their program for several years now. They have the state backing them financially so they have the resources and the money to pull off a good program. Athens got the large majority of their support from UNA students in two ways. One, their requirements for teachers is lower than UNA (University of North Alabama). I graduated from UNA and I knew about 30 students who transferred to Athens after their GPA fell below UNA’s standards for the education program. They also have a fairly easy math department. Several UNA students take their math requirements at Athens and transfer the credits back to UNA. This has been going on since my dad and mom went to UNA. Things have changed since Athens became a University. Now, everyone has started going to the local community college to take their math classes. UNA is a tough school and Athens has a reputation for being a little easier. Now their childhood development program is the best in the southeast. They have a great reputation for that. Their business program in building and should be ranked as a third tier school next year. The only downfall is their athletic program but that should not worry distance learners. I would highly recommend this school to anyone. My organization has hired several graduates and recruits from this school often.

As for UNA, although I am upset that UNA lost the semifinals of the National Championship by 1 point last weekend, I still think it is a great school. Their business department is incredible and we have several well known graduates in the business community. The campus is amazing and if you take the distance learning MBA I would highly suggest that you take a day and travel to the campus just once. You will be amazed. They have just built two new dorms and a rec center that are very nice but the real impressive part is the old buildings like Wesleyan. This is a castle that was the original campus in the 1800’s that was also used during the war. There is Bib Graves that rivals the buildings found in Ivy League Campuses. There is the walkway that houses the two lions, Leo and Una. They have a large habitat that includes a waterfall and large rock house. The courtyard is beautiful with a fountain built by a famous French architect and a large bell tower that was recently donated by a private organization. There are several large fraternity houses down fraternity row and two large dorms for the sororities. My fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta, just finished 5 million dollars of remodeling to our house. I am sure you are wondering what this has to do with anything but as a distance student you might not get a chance to see these things. Just thought you might want to know.
