I'm 3 classes away from completing a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Leadership and Management with Mountain State University and also have an FAA Airframe and Power Plant license. I have been looking at MSU's Master of Science in Strategic Leadership but I’m not sure if that’s the road I want to head down. Has anyone taken this course? What did you think about it? Were there Exams or just papers?

    MSU MSSL

I will retire in a couple of years from the military after 30 years so money is not a big factor for seeking a job. I would like to teach / work at the Community College level in the aviation field or something along those lines.

Any thoughts on all this?????? Thanks

I can't tell you anything about that particular program but I do have strong feelings regarding a formalized education in Leadership. Look up any threads with my name an St. Josephs College or "St. Joes". They have an MBA in Leadership that is in my future.

Also I am currently a student at Southwestern College in Kansas and they have a MS in Leadership. I can tell you so far my experience with these people has been the best I have ever had in college. And I have been a student of at least 4 schools.

    get an aviation graduate degree

If you want to work in the aviation department of a college, I recommend getting a masters degree in an aviation field. Some schools want the aviation related degree while others just require a graduate degree in any field. This applies to both flight and maintenance faculty.

There are several excellent programs available. Some have more versatility than others. Here are a few examples:

    University of North Dakota
-- M.S. in Aviation (must have a Federal Aviation Administration Private Pilot Certificate or foreign equivalent)

    Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
    -- Master of Aeronautical Science
    -- M.S. in Management

    Delta State University
    -- Master of Commercial Aviation

    University of Nebraska - Omaha
-- MPA with an Aviation concentration
