I took note of a few posts referring to Antioch University's PhD in Leadership & Change as being a distance education program with a few residencies. I visited the site but saw no indication that the degree may be earned through online methods, in fact, the site says the complete opposite. Have I missed something?

According to Antioch University, " This program is not an on-line degree. It is a networked learning community in which computer competence and technology access complement the face-to-face, collaborative and mentoring interactions that are at the core of our learning model.

"On-line" or "at-a-distance" is not the defining characteristic of the program. That said, all students are required to have a computer and Internet access. The program's standardized software and email package is provided to all students for program communication. Evidence of technological competency is part of the admissions process. Advanced Internet Research skills are taught. Technology support for students is available via on line help, email, and telephone.

All students must have access to a computer configured with software that meets the minimum requirements below. For students who need to purchase a computer to meet these requirements, the costs can be covered through your financial aid package. Please contact the Financial Aid Office at 937-769-1360 for further information.

    Thanks,

    distance learning with frequent residencies

It looks like the program has frequent residencies with the rest of coursework being done at a distance. You go to four residencies a year, one per quarter, for a period of four or more years. The residencies vary in length with the first one per year being seven days long with the other three each being three days in length.
