I especially like the name of the web site: ManHo Online. Sounds like an enterprise that might involve a Mr. Deuce Bigalow.

Tan Man Ho could be the reincarnation of Don Ho.

I wonder if we can think of any further racist comments to make about his name?

If my last name were Dickman, would making fun of it be racist? If so, against what race?

Racist? Funny, it seems like the kind of joke you would hear on the "Tonight Show" during Jay Leno's "headlines" segment. You know, the one where he flashes engagement and wedding photos and makes fun of their names...

Geez dude, LIGHTEN UP and pull the stick out (if you're wondering which stick, and were it might be planted, I can go into more detail).

His actual name or a hook?

The Gurdjieffian thing...well, that is what it is.

We of cosmic conscience scorn your foolish divisions between the living and the dead. Ha!

OTOH, if you'd be so kind as to name me in your will...

If I opened a school as Dr. Cosmic Good, I'd be held in suspicion if not with ridicule, right?

Sorry, I still have difficulties to understand the issue here...

Hmm.... I think there are 2 issues here:

    1) Isn't it popular to name a school in one's name? Stanford University, Harvard University, College of William and Mary.... too many to name....

    2) Man-Ho is not a very special/weird name in Chinese culture. Chinese people (as well as Korean and Japanese people) assign names to their children with good meanings.. it is not uncommon to name a girl with meanings like "beautiful", "elegant" etc.. or name a boy "strong", "brave", "protecting the country", "rich", "be good to parents"... etc....

There's even a Chinese fortunate teller whose name meaning "divine destiny"! I don't think his parents assigned such a name to him but he assigned this name to show people people he can communicate with the mysterious part of the world much better than other people do.....

So, I am not very sure on what is funny or special with a Chinese name "Man-Ho".

IF... (1) Man-ho is not a special name, (2) naming a school using a person's name is not anything unusual....

THEN I cannot understand what is that special with the name here....

HOWEVER, one thing I would agree weird.. is the need to explain the name of the school....

In National University of Singapore, they have a "Lee Kuan Yew Shool of Public Policy" ( http://www.spp.nus.edu.sg/index.htm ). "Lee Kuan Yew" is simply the first president of Singapore. Althogh I am not very sure whether it is named as a result of donation or as a way to remember the important contribution by Mr Lee Kuan Yew. But I believe no one would see the need to explain the meaning of his name, as part of the information shown in the school website.... (for those interested, "Kuan Yew" has the meaning of "bright", "brilliant" and "shining")

Naming a school as "Dr. Cosmic Good" would be weird. This is because people in the western part of the world would not name children in this way.
