Has anyone recently received a Touro sheepskin? I viewed a Touro MBA diploma online and noticed how cheesy it looked. Does anyone know if they've changed the appearance recently or did they keep the CEU certificate look? My Metro State BA diploma was equally crappy and I didn't hang it on the wall before it was destroyed by water in the basement one wet spring. Anyway, just curious. $750 per MBA course is almost too good to pass up so Touro is on the list along with Salve Regina.
How a diploma looks should be last on your list of concerns, if on the list at all. All my diplomas sat in a box in my basement (waterproofed basement...ha ha) until my wife bought this ridiculously huge entertainment center, so now they're displayed in there. However, you can only see the folders, and almost no one looks at the actual diplomas. Potential employers are going to be concerned with your transcripts, and probably won't even ever ask to see the diploma. I used to have a scan of a University of London diploma (lost in a hard drive crash), and it it's one of the cheesiest-looking documents I've ever seen. It looks like someone typed it out with an old Royal typewriter.
Oh I know, but you know you work hard you pay the money you think you should get something presentable. It's not even on my criteria list as far as whether or not to sign up, but it would be nice to hear that the diploma is no longer so damn ugly.
Graphic-Awards sells diploma frames and has an image of a Touro University International diploma at this site: http://graphic-awards.com/detail.cfm?ItemPic=T_dlx.jpg
I agree with Bruce. Who cares? When I graduated from National University, it was at a time when NU prided itself on all things business-like, and on being different from all things traditionally academic. My MBA diploma, for example, is in portrait--not landscape--layout, and the script is decidedly business (sans serif and no calligraphy to be found). A few years ago I lost a bunch of stuff during a move at work. I thought my MBA diploma was among them. Because I'm a lifetime member of NU's Alumni Association, they replaced it for free. This time I got a very traditionally appearing diploma. Both are in a closet.
I concur with Bruce and Rich. Both of my hard earned diplomas are in my closet. What really matters is what is on your transcripts.
I looked at the website. I didn't think the Touro diploma looked all that bad. I can appreciate what you're saying. All my diplomas are on my wall in the office and I've already been thinking about where I'm going to put the "DMin" diploma in 2007. It ain't going in the closet, ha, ha.
Its trivial I know, and the chances are any diploma of mine would end up in the basement like the rest. I guess in analyzing it I think the weird globe thingy really makes it look a bit gauche....I guess I didn't get lit up as bad as I thought I would over this post. Ha ha ha. Maybe the easy CJ post diverted attention. I think if I earned a Dmin, I would be inclined to want to hang that one on the wall though. Kind of like a trophy fish I guess, if I caught a 12 lb walleye I'd probably want to hang that. I caught an 8 pounder and I ate that. Ha ha ha!
I work for a fortune 500 company and they asked for a copy of my diploma, and my transcripts, when I hired in. I scanned all my diplomas when applying to Newcastle(Australia). They asked for a copy of the diplomas and transcripts to be e-mailed them, as well as sending them official transcripts.
My wife's BYU diploma is about the cheesiest looking thing you have likely seen. It looks like it got copied on a cheap copier and there are even breaks in the signatures. My BYU diploma looks pretty good compared to hers. Not sure why the quality stinks for hers but so far no one has asked for a copy of her diploma. She called them about it and they sent her another one. It still looks like a cheap copy but at least there were no breaks in the signatures on that one. Maybe the better education you get the worse the diplomas look.
