    Hi everyone,
I am planning to take the Clep Principles of Management test early next week.
I have the Barrons EZ-101 and am going to join instacert tonight. After reading the Barrons book i took the Clep official guide test and scored only around 30%.
I then decided to go buy the Clep Review guide from a bookstore but none of them have it in stock.
I want to know if the materials i have will be enough for the test.
I can order from amazon but then that means i'll be able to take the exam only after Thanksgiving and i really do want to take it by Tuesday/Wednesday next week and then start studying for something else.
Thanks as always for the help,
    Adoncia

    Adoncia,

While I don't know about Barron's EZ-101, I do know Barron's Business Review Management (which is more in depth) was more than enough for me. Studying this book alone and using common sense scored me at a 70 on a scale of 20-80. If you are only scoring a 30 on the practice exams, I would suggest getting the book I recommended and spending at least a week studying it. The CLEP official test guide has pretty accurate tests that are on about the same level as the actual exam. You should be scoring at least 50% on those before you attempt the real exam. Good luck!

While not an answer to your particular question, I found going to a local community college or university bookstore and getting the text for a course worked quite well. For example, when I went to take the Econ CLEP, I went to DeAnza community college and picked up the macro and micro econ books they use. In a month I was ready to sit (and pulled the equivalent to an A).

    Good luck,

Barrons EZ -101 worked for me. I also read a bit from an Intro to Management book. I always took a minimum of 3 practice exams before I took real exam. I usually didn't worry too much about how I did on first practice exam. Just keep working on your weak points. Good luck!

I found that an earlier edition text, which can usually be found for a few dollars online, is an excellent study guide and cheap.

Re: Re: Are these study materials enough for Principles of Management

I concur. I'm currently reading the Barron's Business Review Mgt book as we speak and although it's a bit hefty (over 400 pages), it is layed out really well and a fairly easy read.

I did instacert before reading the book and I find that the book is hitting all of the major points. Once I'm done the book I'll do the CLEP official guide practice test to make sure I pass.

I'm not sure which review guide you're talking about but hopefully it's not the Comex Systems Review for the CLEP Principles of Management book, which is the best guide for someone in your circumstance. It's only 135 pages and supposedly hits all of the major points.

    Hey Adoncia,

I would say that if you are scoring around 30% you may want to take an additional week to study and practice for this exam. Although I found it fairly simple, I also had already took and passed other exams of which the material overlapped with the P.O.M CLEP (Intro to business, Principles of Supervision, H.R Management DSST exams).

For this exam I browsed through my old dantes study sheets (for the exams I had previously sat for) as well as used

Wikipedia.com (to search and look up terms and get clarification or any subjects I didn’t understand)
I halfheartedly used instancert.com to focus on areas where I found I was the most weak in.
Finally I also scooped up the booklet from eBay (pass your class) which I found to be useful to reinforce what I had already learned.

Also, check out the thread I had created on this site regarding my experience with this exam and some of the comments and tips posted by others. Good luck

    Thanks Kelly,
The test is very basic. I mainly used instacert and Barrons EZ 101.
I also have the CLEP Official Guide and used the practice test in that.
I googled to get some basic concepts and meanings of terms right.
I went to the library and looked up some management books but did'nt use them.
There were a number of questions from the CLEP Official Guide in the exam.
