And have started doing the flashcards for the micro and macro tests. It's a start. 33 hours down, 2304983204872039487 (it feels like) to go, sigh.
Good luck hey i did the same ...i wished they had cross puzzles , mix and matches and multiple choice or some games to stimulate my memory processes..
If you find you're not getting enough from instantcert for Economics I recommend the Standard Deviants tapes - usually there are people selling theirs on eBay for a reasonable price. The Barron's Business Review series are also highly regarded (under $12 on Amazon.com for the Economics text). Cheers, Mark
Standard Deviant tapes helped on... Statistics as well. They are corny as hell, but they work. Good suggestion Mark.
Re: Standard Deviant tapes helped on... Actually, you can rent the Standard Deviants DVDs online from a service called Family Pass. It works like NetFlix, but they only rent family-friendly DVDs. http://www.familypass.com/Home.aspx
Re: Re: Standard Deviant tapes helped on... Most of the Standard Deviants are also available on NetFlix. Unfortunately they don't have the Economics one, but they do have Statistics. And for Statistics, you can get the whole 9-disc series at one time. Cool!
Thanks for the tip TCord1964 and Akelley728. I was thinking about shelling out $50 for a new copy of the statistics tapes, to see I can rent the entire DVD series for $10 a month (or use the free month) will save me some cash.
Re: Standard Deviant tapes helped on... The corny stuff on Standard Deviants is there on purpose, for good reason. Corny stuff and ridiculous imagery is proven to cement memory while studying. It's easy for many students to forget dry recitations of facts, but associate them with a seemingly nutty idea or image and those facts tend to really stick in the gray matter. Kit
Re: Re: Standard Deviant tapes helped on... Great tip - I wish I knew about this prior to shelling out for many of the tapes!
That advice is awesome, and I am very much a visual learner. I will join one of the two rental services today. Thank you very much for responding. Regarding microeconomics. I've just nailed the first section (instacert) of 35 questions, about 200 to learn before I register to take the Clep at a local college. I hope they're open Wednesday- have to call to check the Thanksgiving schedule.
Kit's exactly right This is very true. The cornier, crazier you can make something, the easier it is to remember. This is certainly the case with the SD tapes. They work.
Definitely have to agree with everyone recommending the standard deviant tapes, they do work and help reinforce the topics and subjects being learned. I’ve also used instancert.com which is a good tool when preparing for test but I just find that I personally enjoy reading and learning about the topics im studying as appose to just reviewing bits and pieces of the topic (i.e. the memorizing of info via flash cards used by instancert). I think the instancert site servers better as a supplement to books and studying guide learning.
