    Hello,
I am new to this board, and really appreciate all of the great information and insight on here.
I am curious to find out information from those you who have experience in gaining credit through portfolio evaluation. What was the process like? How long did it take you? How many credits did you earn? I believe I can earn a large amount of credit through portfolio, and i was hoping to gain some tips from those who have been through the process.
    Thanks
    Chris

I got six hours through portfolio credit. I had to provide documentation and commentary. It was years ago. It was a tremendous amount of work. I remember thinking at the time that it might just have been easier to have taken two courses instead.

I agree, it is a pain in the A@$

I earned around 12-20 units through Portfolio Assessment, PLA (Prior learning Assessment) etc.

After doing it, testing is the way to go. But to answer your question more directly. Most Universities offer this program in one manner or the next.

    1. Dr Stephen Levicoff is the guru in this arena. You might start with a search on this site for him and PLA/Portfolio Assessment. He wrote a very good step by step plan on this process.

    2. Identify specific classes from a variety of collegiate course descriptions.

    3. Gather as much proof as your ability to perform the same objectives as those that are taught in the various classes.

My portfolio assessments were between 12-30 pages. I had already taken specific Real Estate classes at a DETC accredited business school, but they weren't accepted. SO I had to do PLA for each class. It was a BIG TIME PAIN!

In the future, whenever possible, take a clep! It's a lot less work and a lot less time. I'll check and see if I can find the thread from Dr Levicoff.

    Good luck.
