    Hi folks,

Ever heard this one: Stonebridge Associated Colleges (www.stonebridge.uk.com)?

    Very interesting rates indeed, but...

    Any comments?

As has been pointed-out here many times, if it's a UK institution, but it's not listed either on this web page or this one (and it isn't, in either case), then it is, at the very least, not "accredited" in the sense that we tend to use that word here in the US. Whether it's in any way legitimate in spite of that, I don't know. I seriously doubt that it is, but I'd need to do more investigating of it than I'm willing to take the time to do at this moment.

ya, I've check the links, and I know I cannot find it in those pages.
I have write an email to DFES, still waiting for reply.

I just want to hear someone might took a course there, and willing to share what it was like.
If i can find one good reason, then I might consider to take one course.

Thank you so much for your help :)

Welcome aboard. Can you find one good reason to take a "course" there INSTEAD of at an accredited school? Many accredited schools will be cheaper. They will also all be unquestionably real.

    Thank you Uncle Janko :)

You said: Many accredited schools will be cheaper.

Can you please help me which schools are they?
I've been searching in the web for about 3 months, everyday,
but all the famous colleges (which are accredited), are veru expensive for me. and not many of them offer one year Diploma in Marketing/Business...

I have had quick look at the site but do not see any mention of degree level courses. If it is not offering degree courses then it would not appear on the DFES lists mentioned.

For visa approval reasons it may have been checked /visited by the Home Office, but I am not sure if they have published a recent list. In any case, they are only really interested in the question of whether the college has a real rather than virtual existance, not in quality issues.

Which diploma did you have in mind? Some of them seem very superficial.

This is the Business Skills Diploma summary.

Impressive! Word 6!! State of the art word processing technology (how on Earth is anyone going to find a copy to practice on, I must wonder).

Also, when you mentioned course lengths of a year, where you implying that this was the length of the diploma you were looking at? If so, where did you find that information? Most of the courses listed give it in number of modules and a few give in numbers of hours (including assessment), with numbers up to 150 or so hours. 150 hours might be considered about four weeks of full time study, a far cry from a one year diploma.

Wow.. thanks, your comments are what I really need.
since I am fully blind, clueless, not familiar at all with education in UK or US. I have no idea what 'ASET accedited' is ll about,
    neither 'ODL QC accedited'.

Can someone tell me where to find information about what kind of acceditation I should search regarding distance learning degrees in UK, beside DFES?

PS: ODL QC claimed to be equivalent to DETC in US, is it true?
then... Is 'DETC accredited' could be a good choice?

Hi again. Peacefullia, I know nothing about business programmes as such, but many of our posters certainly do and can help you figure out the way to go.

Why don't you do this: start a NEW thread and call it "looking for intro business degree" or something like that. Then explain in your first post what you are seeking with as much detail as you can at this point. This should work better in attracting the attention of business-knowledgeable posters.

The current thread will attract people who know something about Stonebridge, but not necessarily business education experts. It's clear to you and to everybody else that Stonebridge is NOT what is appropriate for you.

I think a new business-labelled thread will be your best bet.

    Good luck to you.

With regard to degree courses, if the awarding body is not on the DfES list, then it is not a recognised UK degree.

Consequently, any valid (= recognised/worthwhile) degree will be either from a DfES recognised body, or from an accredited foreign institution, and you should check that country's processes for recognition/validity.

Anything that does not pass this scrutiny is probably a degree mill and the degree will be worth only what you can con people into believing!
