If someone was to pursue a short- or non-residency doctorate from one of these schools (and the degree programs listed), which would it be, based on the factors listed below? (In no particular order.)

    Prestige of the School
    Cost
    Time to completion
Likelihood of someone from the U.S. actually completing the degree
Offers a non-Ph.D. designation (so it excludes Capella and Touro)

Consider other factors, including the use for the degree, to be equal.

I think University of Newcastle and USQ both from australia should be added to the list.

I've got Leicester barely edging out Fielding for first choice.

Well, I would also have Newcastle on the list.

    Cost: $20K US...includes books, too.
Rank: 127th in the world, according to a poll just sent me by another forum member. I don't recall Field, NCU, or many of the others even in a ranking.

Thanks for Newcastle. I'll take a look. USQ's website didn't have anything on the DBA they used to offer, so I excluded them from the list.

I see 144 "views," but only three posts!

The University of Leicester has my vote. With regard to the prestige factor, I believe Leicester has a fine academic reputation and a very active research community. On the cost front, the DSocSci has become more expensive due to the exchange rate, but it is still far less expensive than other fine options such as Fielding and the DBA alternative up the motorway in Scotland. I don't like the unusual DSocSci designation, but I must remind myself that this process is about knowledge and not the title. Certainly, the DSocSci has some very interesting modules with topics ranging from human resource development to knowledge management to organizational learning to labor markets and more.

    Rich,

You might also want to consider Henley and Durham.

    All the best,

Need Touro University International on List

Seems like Touro University International should be on the list...

Everyone: Please consider posting your "why's" and "why nots" in this threads. Thanks.

As for Touro and others, there was only room for 10 options on the list. But they make it as a write-in!

    DocSocSci

Once earned, do you really put the DocSocSci behind your name like a PhD? John Public, DocSocSci. hmm. Not ringing well.

Walden, Capella, and Fielding, UMUCcan ring up huge tuition and fees...close to 60K. That's probably nearly 30K more expensive than NCU or Touro. Probably even closer to 50K more expensive than UNISA's DBL.

Re: Need Touro University International on List

The choices are all non-PhD doctorates. That is why there is no Touro.

    Fielding Graduate University

How good is Fielding Graduate University? Is it ranked? Do its faculty members do research or just teach? Anyone gone there, especially for Education?
