My wife is exploring a PhD or DBA to pursue via distance learning, and I wanted to pick the collective brains about what is out there that she might find interesting.

--Topic: She wants to do something highly interdisciplinary in fields related to describing through statistics how people behave in decision making through both business and personal decisions. I would call this managerial decision making, "business anthropology" (if that makes sense unofficially), psychology of personal economic behavior, or perhaps descriptive decision analysis.
--Format: she'd consider either PhD or DBA that is solely oriented or a program that has more defined coursework upfront. (She has an MBA from a top school.)
--Logistics: we could be highly flexible. We live in the US, but we have a penchant for travel of all sorts, so limited residencies a la most UK uni's are acceptable for us.

I've looked through the websites of possible research-only degrees (Aston, Strathclyde, Lancaster) and more class-integrated degrees (Colorado State), and I haven't found anything that quite matches what I'm looking forward. I've also not found the right thing through the Search function here (though I could be using it wrong).

I'm open to random ideas and suggestions - anyone?

    Thanks in advance!

Not DL, but if you really are in Chicago and your wife has a top MBA, you might want to look into Northwestern University's PhD programs in human development, education, and social policy. There is one course in "household economics" that made me think of your term "personal economic behavior," and the school emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary methods and subjects, both quantitative and qualitative.
