I got my AA a year and a half ago at the local community college using my GI Bill (getting paid to attend school is great) and have finally enrolled in school again to get my BS in IT. I actually had a lot of fun going for the AA and it made me feel really good to graduate with a couple others at the top of my class. This old dog can still learn new tricks. I'm looking forward to the next degree so I can make a career change.

I spent alot of time researching and comparing many schools out there and finally went with Columbia Southern University. They had a good price, the right accreditation (they even take the GI Bill, a good sign), flexibility in their programs and all the right information.

I just got my login information to the student orientation class (1 credit hour) where you basically study the 50 page student handbook and take a couple quizes so you understand how their system works and I can't wait to begin working in my major for a change. I tried searching around here for any tidbits of information on CSU and found almost nothing so I thought I'd post to say, "hey I'm going there". Maybe someone will check them out and find something they didn't know about.

Good school, from everything I've read. Congratulations, first and foremost, on pursuing your education! GI bill is a great tool to utilize (I’m active duty AF), but do it however you can. The reward is in the satisfaction, every bit as much as it may increase the income (but maybe I’m personalizing this too much).

Take the opportunity and run with it, and hoping for your success.

Make sure DETC accreditation is right for you. I am currently enrolled in a DETC school and I'm having second thoughts as to it's acceptance in my work place. You can read some replies from my post (SHOULD I CONTINUE DETC OR CHANGE RA?).

    Good Luck!

I once had a co-worker who completed her BS in Crminal Justice through this school and had nothing but good comments about them, however, be prepared to write alot of papers.

I was strongly considering CSU but decided to go with Southwest University (DETC). I'm trying to complete my BS in Criminal Justice as well, my co-worker and I were former MP's.

I've read the before mentioned thread, and IMO there is nothing wrong with NA accreditation. The Dept of Education recognizes it and so does the military for tuition assistance and the G.I Bill.

I've been an Army Recruiter for over ten years now and the Army like the other services give advanced rank upon initial entry for those who have the required credit hours and NO difference is made between RA or NA, they both are accredited.

So, in this ten years one understands that I have delt with colleges and universities and I can tell you that most are just interested in your tuition dollars. The acceptance of credits is always up to the college or university that one is applying to.

My perception is that it is a market/competition issue. Best of luck to you Manny.
