Plugging "real estate" "graduate program" site:edu into google came up with a mere 105,000 hits, starting with an MS in Real Estate from Johns Hopkins http://business.jhu.edu/realestate/index.cfm?action=curriculum&groupid=30&areacode=340&majorcode=341 , a Masters of Real Estate Development at USC http://www.marshall.usc.edu/web/RealEstate.cfm?doc_id=1476 and MBA and PhD programmes in real estate at Wharton http://www.wharton.upenn.edu/doctoral/programs/realestate/

Hmmm. Using "MS in Real Estate" site:edu gets you down to only 323 hits . . . which might be a bit more manageable!

Are you talking on-campus, or DL?

She's looking for DL only - I did a search but those I found were for B&M.

I would appreciate more assistance if anyone has any knowledge of DL programs in Real Estate.

    Thanks.

The only three DL master's programs in Real Estate in Bears' Guide were foreign schools following the UK system (rather than RA): College of Estate Management www.cem.ac.uk (BG15, 106); Napier University www.napier.ac.uk (BG15, 164); and University of Pretoria www.up.ac.za (BG15, 143). Hope this helps.

Florida State has an MBA in Real Estate

FSU has an accredited MBA program in real estate. I don't have the link anymore, but it looked like a good program.

Why does she want a master's in real estate? The reason I ask this is that at many universities (UF included) what they teach as "real estate", is not really real estate at all. It is a real estate finance degree. At other schools, it usually is a mixed bag of courses with everything from building construction to insurance, or even law. So, depending on what her goals are, she might be better off with a non-"real estate" degree, such as urban planning, geography, marketing, or finance. UF does offer a DL Master's in Construction Management, if that's her bag. (see http://www.distancelearning.ufl.edu/program.aspx?p=5)

If it is appraising she is looking to get into, the appraisal institute has courses in each state to get certified as an MAI, as well as some online courses, but they are not for a degree. They do have a master's program in the works with several universities around the nation (FSU was one), but as far as I know it is only in the developmental stage.

In the UK you would probably need to look at "estate agency" as well, although there is no licencing requirement.

Anyone can set up as an Estate Agent in the UK as long as they follow regulations on client accounts and other matters. If they don't then they may be banned from running an agency, although it is a personal ban, and they can work in the business for someone else provided they avoid certain elements of the work.
