Hi, Looking for suggestions on creating an on line high school course in a regular high school. Need ideas on start up costs, ect. Thanks. Hille
Hello Hille - I've never seen this subject discussed before on degreeinfo. I don't want to sell anyone short but I'm not sure that you'll find what you're looking for on this forum. I'd suggest that you pick out a delivery system that you think would work for you and then contact several universities that are presently using this system to deliver courses. My guess is that they will be able to provide information and guidance on this issue. Good luck. Jack
Here are some ideas to peruse. Claroline : Open Source e-Learning http://www.claroline.net Manhattan Virtual Classroom http://manhattan.sourceforge.net DoceboLMS http://www.docebolms.org/index.php?special=changelang&newLang=english dokeos http://www.dokeos.com A list of many similar systems can be found at http://www.unesco.org/webworld/portal_freesoftware/Software/Courseware_Tools/index.shtml
Online HS course I have first-hand experience with Manhattan; great program, easy to administer. Attended a recent Linux seminar, the presenter was crazy about Moodle. Have installed on my server, haven't had a chance to try it out yet. As far as content, do check out lesson plans on ERIC and try to locate your state standards; when you create your subjects you may wish to create lesson plans within categories based on the standards found there.
