Does an associates degree from Education Direct transfer to say Excelsior or one of those?

Education Direct is Regionally Accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Given this, there should be no problem with transferring credit, but check with Excelsior or any other college you are considering before enrolling at Education Direct.

Well, you're paritially right. ED's high school and vocational programs are regionally accredited. Its associates degree programs are not...they are DETC-accredited. However, many of the courses in the associates degree programs are reviewed by ACE, so they should still transfer to Excelsior.

It looks like you are doing the program with Education Direct that I was looking at... How is that going?

Do you plan on continuing on for your bachelor's degree? If so.. do you know where you plan to go?

I chose Ed Direct because they advertise their courses as ACE reviewed. I enrolled in the paralegal program and then tried to transfer to Excelsior. At first, Excelsior denied most of my credits because the paralegal courses had not been ACE reviewed.
Anyway, Excelsior ended up taking all my units because at the time I enrolled at Excelsior, Ed Direct was a candidate for regional accreditiation--they have since withdrawn their candidacy--and it worked out for me.

    Good Luck!

    Jennifer,

Look for my thread elsewhere on this board titled "My Studies At Education Direct". It is a blow-by-blow description of everything I have gone through so far while studying Business Management/Marketing at a distance with ED.

So far, I'm very pleased with Education Direct. I have had no problems concerning payment, receiving shipments of courses, etc.

There is another thread on this board called "Transfer from Education Direct", in which I describe trying to decide on where to go for my bachelors when I am done at ED. So far, it's a toss-up between Thomas Edison State College, Franklin University or Peru State College in Nebraska, all of which offer Marketing majors at a distance. Unfortunately, Franklin and Peru do no return my emails asking about credit transfer policies.
