You gotta admit though, Canterbury sounds far grander than the desk of legal clerk's office in Ireland (where Warnborough created its own degree granting authority).

    Cheers,

    From their web site:

"It is not an Irish university and makes no claims as such. It does not award Irish or UK degrees."

Warnborough student: "Excuse me, can you tell me where my degree will come from?"
Warnborough Administration: "Well, not from the UK, not from Ireland and not the USA"
Warnborough student: "OK, well every other university in the world is created somewhere and issues their degrees from some country. Where do Warnborough's degrees come from?"
Warnborough Administration: "We really can't tell you. We're a global university and we have no boundaries. We don't play those silly accreditation and degree granting games, we're above all that. I guess you can tell your employer that your degree came from The Ether"
    Warnborough student: "Where's The Ether?"
Warnborough Administration: "Your guess is as good as mine buddy. It's somewhere, out there somewhere, but it's there. Now leave me alone please and get on with your studies. Noone will ever ask that sort of question, so just ignore that ticking you're hearing in the back of your head, OK!"
Warnborough student: "OK, sorry I asked"
Warnborough Administration: "You should be. No customer has the right to know where their product comes from. Now get on with it"

    Cheers,

    George

The operation uses the name until (a) law enforcement authorities catch up to it or (b) the media does, giving it a bad name. Then it switches names, leaving its "alumni" in the lurch. But the business goes on in any case.

No, RFValve: This distinguished Fanshawe Faculty Member is an educated native speaker of the English langugage: so, she knows exactly what she is doing. There is no excuse for this.

Warnborough claims ISO 9001 accreditiation, however it is not entirely clear what this applies to (it could just as easily be for the quality of their tea-making!)

Which Canterbury Cathedral did she go to?

Fanshaws address might be misleading to those who do not realise that it is London, Ontario, Canada not London, England.

if I remember correctly, that "accreditation" is not for their academic side, but for the correctness of their student record keeping.
I also do not think that they are allowed to use the accreditation mark on their website.

It happens that Fanshawe is in my back yard, so I sent some senior administrators an e-mail complaining about the recognition of this bogus DBA degree and the embarrassment it is causing Fanshawe. I urged the degree holder be called to account.

One recipient got their wires crossed and sent an e-mail to me that was meant for one of the other administrators. The reply is:

"Tell him we have investigated it and have taken the appropriate action. We just are not able to comment on personnel matters. What do you think?
    XXX
    Senior Vice President XXX"

It appears the "appropriate action" is to remove the original newletter article from public view. The instructor is still styled ""Dr. Txx Hxxx, CAIB, AGDM, MBA, DBA, EIEIO" (www.fanshawec.on.ca/business/coordinators.asp)

(Sorry, I couldn't resist adding the last bunch of letters)

If Warnborough is a mill, how did they get warnborough.ac.uk?

the warnborough.ac.uk leads to a 'Warnborough College' website that does not seem to offer degrees directly and therefore does not breach UK law.

It does have a link to Warnborough University as a separarate institution
