I have been searching the forum for any information on this program without any luck. I'm thinking about enrolling this spring.

Has anybody had experience with the program that they can share? It looks good ... on the surface, particularly the internship and the cost.

    Thanks in advance

I guess I wonder why? You must have a masters degree to get into the program and when you finish you are no better off, since it does not provide any additional subject area in which you are qualified to teach. But the school is a good school and I have friends who have obtained the Assistive Technology Specialist & the Sports and Fitness Psychology certificates. They both stated that the subject matter was thorough, informative, and useful. At $495 the price was right.

I have been thinking about the same programme at California State University (Dominguez Hills) for the spring as well. The entry requirements are: masters degree OR be enrolled in a master degree OR be teaching at a community college. I will request information from the school during the coming week.

From the web site "Students must either be enrolled in a graduate program, possess a master's degree in a subject area taught at the community college level, or be currently employed as an instructor in a community college." California State University (Dominguez Hills)

Let me know whether you decide to enroll in the spring.

From what I have read on the website it will give me the opportunity to design a course in addition to the the internship at a local community college which will provide teaching experience (which I currently do not have).
I'm leaning in that direction ... maybe we'll be classmates :)

I'm wrestling with this decision and maybe one of you can offer me your "two cents".

The thing is, I think I found a way to gain teaching experience and circumvent the cost of this certificate. The local community college offers a 4-unit course in work-study. I contacted the program administrator there and explained that I am completing my Master's degree but do not have teaching experience so I would like to take the class and intern for a professor there. She said the department would be "more than happy" to have me ...

Part of me thinks this is fine because my goal is to gain exposure to teaching. However, I just keep wondering deep down if having a certificate will be more beneficial in the long run.

Doing both would probably be the best, but not the most expedient or inexpensive, course of action.
