    Any opinions as to the best online masters criminal justice program. I have been looking at U of Cincinnati and Boston U. Any feedback on these programs or others I should be aware of? Online is the only way to go for me as there are no local colleges that offer the masters in cj. Thanks!

    When you say "best", what is your criteria? Most prestigious? Quickest? Cheapest?

    Thanks for the reply Bruce. As far as best, I guess I want a degree that carries some clout but is also attainable. I hope to be promoted soon and have a baby on the way so time will be at a premium. I don't want a program that's so difficult that I can't keep up. Cost is not a factor as my employer will cover that. Thank you for the links. I'm definitely going to do my research before diving into any program.

    As far as clout, the top 3 schools would be (alphabetical);

    Florida State
    Michigan State
    U of Cincinnatti

    I don't know much about the DL delivery methods of those schools, so I'm only offering my recommendations as far as their institutional reputations in the CJ world.

    Boston University is an outstanding school overall, but they don't have a CJ Department, and their only CJ programs are offered through Metropolitan College, which is their Continuing Education division. So, while the BU name may get immediate attention, those with knowledge of graduate CJ programs (potential employers in academia) will know it's not even close to being a top-tier CJ program. Combining that with the outrageous price ($2000+ per course), and I don't usually recommend them.

    I'll throw in a plug here for my own alma mater, UMass-Lowell. I graduated from the pre-DL off-campus program, but the same professors teach the DL courses, and they are outstanding. It was also named one of the best CJ Master's programs by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.

    Any questions, let me know.

    Bruce,

    Is there a link or artice for this? The UMass program seems very intriguing.

    I appreciate all your help.

    It's listed in the Graduate Guide, available from the ACJS website;
