New to this and seeking advice. Does any one have experience with CTU, Colorado Technical University Online? I’m particularly interested in talking with current students and any graduates of the MBA, or MS in management programs. Any info on this school will be greatly appreciated. Thanks…

About all I can tell you is if you contact them, be prepared to get the hard sell.

I looked into possibly signing up for a program at CTU a few months ago. I didn't go with them because they are OBNOXIOUSLY expensive. You can find similar programs at better schools for a much lower price.

    CTU is owned by AIU.

Career Education Corporation (CEC) owns both CTU and AIU.

When I first started looking for a Masters program, I contacted CTU (among other for-profits). Hard sell is exactly what they are! Yikes! I had to ask several to quit contacting me.

They have a decent DM program that requires 3 residencies, but other than that, I wouldn't reccomend them. You can find a good Masters program elsewhere.

Comments about the value of CTU online...

A resounding thank you to all those who have offered their comments! Is there anyone who is actually enrolled or has received a degree, MBA or MS in Business from CTU who would like to share? (If your an administrator of CTU don't bother)....Thanks again, this message board is the best!

The only complaints I've seen about CTU are the price and their marketing practices. There is a member here, a CTU graduate that's in the Navy, who is quite satisifed with them, but I'm sure he's not paying full tuition out of pocket.

    CTU is Expensive and Pushy

    I'm Happy,

CTU is expensive and pushy with marketing, with that said I found there program to very good and career enhancing. I actually wasn't going to go to CTU because of one of the rude marketers. I simply looked past that when I calmed down :)

I also had the GI Bill which was $1004 a month for the 15 months. I used federal loans and out of pocket money for the rest. In my opinion they have a good masters program, Harvard it aint, but its okay.

I want to enroll in the DM program but I'm in Japan and the travel would be too expensive for me.

I'm also a graduate from AIU’s BIT program, very expensive also. I used the GI bill for that program also.

    Vonnel1;

Just curious - are you active, or retired? GI bill is great, but I was wondering if active duty TA (tuition assistance) played any part of it.

A former co-worker of mine (I'm AF) is enrolled at CTU and happy with it, but he's having to use both avenues to cover the high costs. He did mention the "hard sell" from the admission counselors as well, but decided to overlook it.

    CTU

I left the Navy after 12 years to pursue a better career path. The GI bill was a big part my tuition. I didn't have a chance to try Navy's TA when I was about to get out in 2001, wish I had :)

I have noticed that CTU is popular with the Air Force is that because of location?

    MBA, MS in Management

Since you are in NC, you are likely much better off looking at something like the distance learning "Options" program at East Carolina. Much better school, much lower tuition.

Finished CTU's M.S. Management-IT program last year on campus. DL must be considerably more expensive than the classroom option based on what I've read here, and what I paid (actually, my employer) in tuition.

It was 11 courses, around $1400 per course (that's counting books), for about $15k for the whole program.

    vonnell-
CTU is located (main campus) in Colorado Springs, which has a large USAF population. I'd guess about half the folks I went through the program with were either active duty, retired, separated, or were civilians working on one of the bases.

I just finished up from AIU and was wondering what the CEC actually is. You didn't write much on it, so I am getting the hint that it's not so good. Also would like to know because I have been looking into CTU, but the one thing stopping me is because they are owned by same people AIU.

Like Lurker pointed out, Colorado Springs is a USAF Mecca. Chances are very good that most of the folks that were were there were either active or retired USAF.

Other than my flirtation with them (hard sell turned me off), I have a friend that enrolled in their project management related program. They were very "helpful" in filing all of the Military TA and GI bill paperwork for him (if nothing else, they have a great business sense). He seems happy enough with the cirriculum, but admits that if he were picking up the cost he would look elsewhere.

Not trying to wave you off of CTU, but there are other options out there WITHOUT the arm-twisting at a much more reasonable price.

Yeah. Some of these schools are surprizingly just as expensive as their resident counterparts.

CTU's Doctor of Management Application states the following:

Over $65,000 for the program seems awfully expensive. Could this be a miss print?
