I'm already enrolled and set up for the Psych major at Excelsior. I am really thinking of doing both Business and Psych degrees there. Does it make the most sense for me to continue on as if I were just going for 1 degree in Psych? And graduate. Then sometime down the road, I enroll in the other school, complete the handful of other exams, and graduate there? Thanks, I just am worried I am missing something. I guess if I had to only have 1 degree I'd prefer Business but actually right now I'm thinking Psych is better for me cost wise & time wise (study time).

Am I correct in thinking Excelsior will allow you to do as many majors as you like after you complete the bachelor's requirements? Meaning ~90 courses of liberal arts and other requirements, ~30 courses for your first major, ~30 more for each additional major?

I think they only let you do 2, or 3 if you have a reason and get special approval.

Since you are undecided, I'd study to take the Pysch GRE exam. The next date is Dec 10th and April 1st after that. It's $130. It sounds like you'll eventually try to get both degrees so I'd try for the Psych credits first. If you do great on the GRE, you'll get 30 credits at excelsior and well on your way to a degree. If you don't get any credits for it, at least you know where you stand and can start working on your business courses. You can always retake the psych exam later if need be.

Even if you go for the April 1st exam and wanted to make progress in the meantime, there are probably enough exams you need to take that would apply for both degrees.

Excel. You may be able to complete an area of focus
in business administration combined with your psych major.
Earn credits ( CLEP/DANTES ) applicable to an excelsior
business major while pursuing a Psych degree. The BS in
Psychology may allow you to earn more business credits as
electives. Then transfer earned business credits and apply them
    towards a degree in business.

You are ambitious Excel. Complete one degree at a time to stay focused. Its only a matter of time before we start to eventually call you Dr. :)

raristud, *nod* Thanks for pointing that out again.

Yeah I should graduate in the next year with the Psych degree to avoid paying more tuition. What confuses me is that if I only do one degree, I prefer to have Business, BUT for now it would be more cost effective and take less time (I am thinking) for me to do Psych. Otherwise I could switch to the Business college for now. So I should just do Psych, and try to take courses that could apply to the 2nd Business degree... which I'll hopefully complete somewhere down the road. It seems there is not an incentive for me to rush on getting the Business degree other than to have it sooner. I mean I don't save on tuition or anything.

Once you have finished your first degree in psych, if you go that route, your money is better spent on a graduate degree in business. If you plan on spending the time and money, you might as well advance. It's about 30 more semester hours either way, so you're better off to advance than add another bachelor's to your resume.

Hm, well I am interested in getting the MBA from Excelsior but I figured it was about 16 classes x $1200, plus some other couple thousand in fees. Whereas for the Business degree I would be close (taking into account that I do as many Business credits as I can during first degree) and just need to take maybe 3 more ECE's, so even with the enrollment & graduation costs I was figuring more like $2500 for the 2nd degree. Might do the MBA later but do this first, but yeah, if I were certain I was going to go for MBA anyway... or is there something I am missing? Thanks.

hehe. Sorry for being repetitious amy :).

What career path would you like to embark on? Business, psychology, a sample of both?

No seriously, I'm glad you restated it that way.

I should just find out how I can meet the requirements for the Business degree, and I believe the Psych GRE would be enough for the 2nd degree.
