Bill is an inspiration on many levels. I am just coming back after a brief deployment so I may have missed some of this (eg Bill's faculty status). Bill entered a doctoral program later in life (nearly 60 when he began), dealt with numerous personal obstacles both internal and external that he has mentioned here, and successfully completed his foreign equivalent of accredited ThD. Not only that..........but he begins a second career in higher education at an accredited seminary. This Gen Xer tips his hat to you Bill. It is never too late to begin nor to take the high road in doing a doctoral program of substance and utility. North
Hi My Good Friend, North. Thanks a lot, I also just survived a five bypass open heart surgery. Since you know me so well, here's an objective quiz: As I sit home these six weeks recovering , impatiently awaiting the time I'm back to normal, what do you think I am doing? A) giving my wife a worse time than usual? B) getting depressed? C) reviewing Greek Grammar? (hint) didasko didasakomen didaskeis didaskete didaskei didaskousi I'm doing very well and am very thankful for it. I also have been the subject of many good wishes here , and I think that I should be less the topic of a thread. But thanks , friend North. Bill
You did... and it was discussed at length in this thread, which included much well-deserved congratulations. Never can get too much of a good thing, though... so I, for one, am already enjoying reading this new thread about it.
Bill, Be careful with the greek grammar. As your wife hears you recite greek grammar she may think that you have suddenly become a charismatic and become fearful that in your delicate condition you may become slain in the spirit and injure yourself when you fall on the floor. Best wishes on a speedy recovery! North
Congrats, Bill! You're doing pretty good for an old guy! I mean, at an age where most guys are thinking about retirement, you've finished a doctorate, landed an assistant professorship (and a directorate of distance learning, to boot!), and now you've survived open heart surgery! May you have many good and productive years left on you!
I agree with all the above. You set an example for many here. And I am sure your wife is pretty happy you are bugging her more than usual.
