I was doing some fun searching and I have seen people talking about "LaSalle University" and "La Salle University" and wanted to see the big difference.

But when I did a search for "LaSalle U" it forwarded me to a Orion college.

    Who,What are they?

The old degree mill under new ownership, attempting to operate as a legitimate school. They tried for accreditation from DETC but got a less-than-supportive response. It does not look like their accreditation potential is very good. But they are no longer the degree mill they were before being busted by the FBI and having their owner sent to prison, so things must be looking up.

Rich Douglas, who's said some kind things about some unaccredited schools, but can't think of anything here.

And also, according to some reports, offering certain new applicants the opportunity to pursue a (presumably very unrigorous) degree at LaSalle, even though it is supposedly defunct, taken over by the new Orion.

    Very confusing.

I would stay away from both/either.

While I am not an employee, I have stayed in touch with several at LaSalle/Orion, [my ties have long since been discussed at AED]. I am relatively certain that LaSalle is closed to all applicants. Orion College is the only venue available for application. Furthermore, their state license is directly tied to Orion Education Corporation and their plan calls for admissions to flow through Orion College with a timeline to seek recognized accreditation, (DETC presumably).

Several members of the senior staff from the pre1995 LaSalle era are still active in distant education, however, none remain at LaSalle. They can be found on the staffs of several other DETC approved schools, spoke with one recently (and I am told one RA school although cannot verify that at the moment). Orion is making every effort to do things the right way. Problem is, too much history and too many good traditional schools finding their students in Distant Ed.
