I want to know if it is possible to enroll in a Graduate School program if you have not graduated with a BS yet.
Here is my dilemma, I want to enroll in the MSCIT program at Regis and start taking classes for their 2nd half Fall semester that starts Oct 24. I am actually finished with all of my degree requirements for Excelsior but the degree will not be conferred until Nov 18 because I missed the date for Oct. conferrals. Now I do have a BS degree because in reality, I am done with the requirements for my degree. Has anyone done this before?

Sometimes it's possible depending on the school. Some schools allow you to start the Masters program on probation. Then you might have to keep a certain GPA level for the first two courses or so.

It's best to ask the school's admissions office because each school is a bit different.

  3. I heard this as well for several schools - if you've meet the program requirements (which Excelsior can confirm in writing) you may be able to enroll as a non-matriculated student for up to 2 courses. Assuming your GPA is sufficient you can then enroll formally to the program.

    Cheers,

I found myself in a similar situation - I inquired at a school about joining their executive MBA program that started a month before finishing my undergrad degree. The school at least agreed to consider my case, but ultimately decided to ask me to wait and apply the next year, because I was already doing an overload in my undergrad program for my last semester. (15 credit hours in an eight-week summer session) I think in your case, where you've already finished the coursework, the response might be different. Of course, you'll never know if you don't ask!

Many schools will allow you to apply in your last semester of your senior year, I believe I needed a letter from the school I was graduating from, which they were nice enough to provide. Every school is different, the best advice I can give you is contact the school.

The first time I went to grad school, I was accepted while I was in my senior year - these were both b&m schools - I imagine that Regis will be flexible in this regard - only one way to be sure - give it a try...

You should be able to get a letter from Excelsior stating you've met all the degree requirements. That should be useful for admission.

Alternatively, you should check to see if Regis will accept you conditionally. I would be surprised if they balked.

I think I am going to go ahead and give it a shot and apply for admissions early.
If I get accepted I could possibly start classes Oct 24 . At the moment I am preparing the 3 page personal statement, the school requires for admissions.
I will let you know how things turns out.

Better you ask at the school administration department and then take the decision.
