Has anyone that frequents this board enrolled in, or taken any courses from CMU's Masters of Science in Administration program?

I am looking at it as a possibility.. but am still undecided.

    Thanks in advance.

Yes--I took 3 courses at one of the satellites (not DL) in Troy, MI. back in 94-95. I just started at Baker online in the MBA program. They accepted all 3 courses in transfer.

This is not to say the CMU program was not good--it was fine and challenging. Just wanted to do DL and Baker is great and inexpensive for that.

Yes. I completed my Master of Science in Administration at Central Michigan in 1997, and I felt it was a good experience. I did the first half of the program in Michigan, and the second half was completed through program centers in Georgia and Florida after I moved south. I understand the MSA core courses are now available via distance learning, but I took all of my courses in the evening or weekend format.

Do you have specific questions about majors, courses, program centers, or something else? Are you looking for information about the utility of the degree or the research requirements for the MSA 685 capstone project? Let me know if I can provide information specific to your needs.

I personally do not have experience with CMU, but my friend went through the MSA program at Camp Pendleton. Then she used her master’s degree to get a commission in the Navy, now she’s a LT. Overall she liked the program and recommends it.

Thanks for the reviews. I am going to be doing the MSA via distance learning, and so far have been disapointed by their responsiveness to email inquiries. Hopefully that will change in the next week or so, since registration starts then.

    Thanks again for the replies.

Never assume that just because you SENT an email, it was received by the university server, or by the person to whom you thought you addressed it. S/he might be on vacation or out sick, the inquiries might have gone to a separate account for general/pre-admission inquiries, or the department might be swamped with some special project that means answering email has temporarily been given a lower priority.

Be proactive. Pick up the phone and try to reach someone in person. Be pleasant, be polite, but be persistant. I assure you the registration period will not be less busy than any other.

I finally heard from CMU by way of a phone call.

I have indeed been proactive in information requests using both email (to multiple contacts) and have left numerous telephone messages with 4 different contacts.

When I inquired why they have taken 5 weeks to respond with a substantiative reply - it was due to summer break.

I certainly forgive them for taking a vacation, but I feel it would be a good business practice to auto-respond email requests with a info-blurb stating they will return on a certain date, or indicate the same on a voice mail message.
