Our CIO's profile shows that he received Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) from Hartford University, Graduate School of Business. Did he get his DBA from University of Hartford http://www.Hartford.edu or Hartford University listed on Oregon Web Site

Hartford University Vanuatu, South Pacific Degree mill. Not affiliated with the accredited Hartford University or seminary in Connecticut.

Hartford University Vanatu; false claim in MN Claims of Minnesota location are false. Apparently licensed on island of Vanatu in South Pacific. ODA has no evidence that this is an accredited or otherwise acceptable provider of postsecondary education meeting Oregon standards.

I didn't see where the University of Harford offered a DBA.

    Re: University of Hartford

According to their website, they don't - any chance they did at one time and discontinued it?

Something makes me think this probably isn't the case. The University of Hartford's business school is, like many schools, named to honor someone. When this is the case, most bios/resumes/etc. will refer to it as "The Barney School of Business, University of Hartford." Since the original poster doesn't mention this detail, I'm willing to bet the bio doesn't mention it. No alum would let this pass, even if the University of Hartford/Hartford University "typo" missed their attention.

Maybe this individual was simply embarrassed about having graduated from a business school named in honor of a purple dinosaur.

He was awarded DBA in 1999.

Doesn't look like it was from the University of Hartford. A search of the entire hartford.edu domain using the university's "Search" feature reveals only 2 pages with the word "DBA", while a google search for "DBA" on the same domain only nets 23 pages, mostly department listings and some noise about university databases.

If the Barney School had given out DBA degrees at one point, their website would be chock full of info on the program's alumni and their accomplishments. Searching nova.edu for "DBA" nets 700+ results.

I guess you're never 100% sure, but it certainly looks odd.

I called Barney School and was told that UoH has never offered DBA. Can i conclude that my CIO has a questionable degree?

Why not just ask him some general questions about the program? His answers should answer your questions about the institution he attended.

Selling a transcript at online store?

Why don't you ask him about his school experiences? Or see how it is listed on his resume. I would find it odd that U of Hartford would be called Hartford U on a resume. Anyone who actually went to the school would not make that error.

Why don't you say nothing and keep your job.

Keep the info stored in the grey matter though, it may come in handy...;)

    Peace,

Dave C. gives good advice. Keep your job. It will only stir the pot to your disadvantage if you say something. How long will this guy be around anyway? He's already shown himself to be a slackard.

Does he call himself "Doctor" or sign his name, "Joe Blow, DBA"?

I do feel that these bogus degree dudes definitely taint the water for everyone else who actually worked for a real degree. I don't mind ratting the cheaters out once I find out about them either. In your case, though, it's more important to have a good job than to rat him out.
