I received this in an e-mail from militaryMBA.net today. The full study, when available, may be of interest to dl MBA students.

"A Harvard Business School study of the 20th century's top 1,000 businessleaders, due out in October, finds the number of top business leaders graduating from Ivy League schools has declined. However top-name regional schools continue to be important as nearly 7 out of 10 employer organizations would prefer to hire a graduate from a better-known traditional universities than alternative providers such as University of Phoenix or lesser known local schools, which actively market education in the military. (Sources: Knight Ridder, HBS, Spencer Stuart, Corporate Study with HR Executives)."

This is good news and doesn't surprise me at all. I would only hasten to add that the concept of "better known traditional universities" almost certainly suggests that there's an element of geography involved.
