am very seriously considering a BS in Crimial Justice Science from Kaplan.

I am concerned it could be a degree mill. They use a suite for their mailing address and the email correspondence seems the same as some degree mills I have trolled.

Is it for real? Could I do better or the same for a cheaper price?

Well it is large and accredited, but I'm afraid it is owned by that liberal pinko multi-billion-dollar Washington Post. The fact that your website features confederate flags, the NRA, the state militia, doberman pinschers, and NASCAR leads me to wonder if you might not be in sync with these people.

As far as I know, Kaplan doesn't offer a major in Criminal Justice. It just offers business and IT, doesn't it?

I agree that their website isn't the best. But you can't go by that, since some of the best websites out there belong to mills.

Kaplan is accredited by the North Central Association. It's for real.

Probably. Particularly if you are interested in a major they don't offer.

Kaplan does offer a BS in Criminal Justice, through their College of Professional Studies. The webpage claims DETC accreditation, so I don't know if the Professional Studies is seperate from Kaplan College itself. http://www.kaplancollege.com/info/units/kcsps/cj/programs/bsdcj.asp

I think that it is separate. Here's Kaplan College's accreditation page:
    http://www.kaplancollege.com/info/units/kaplancollege/unit.asp?GUID=09EDC7E398EF40F3A598A938791D26D7911971059568671932

And here's the College of Professional Studies' accreditation page:
    http://www.kaplancollege.com/info/units/kcsps/unit.asp?GUID=E8E7C8243544494796DE28F8E0875945045506154402334462

The confusion seems to come from the fact that 'The Kaplan Colleges' is an umbrella organization. 'Kaplan College' proper is only one part of it. This particular segment is RA.

But 'The Kaplan Colleges' also include 'The College of Professional Studies' and 'Concord School of Law', which are both DETC.

I find this choice of names to be slightly disingenuous. It seems almost designed to create confusion between RA 'Kaplan College' and not-always-RA 'The Kaplan Colleges'.

I wonder if Kaplan's long-term plans are to fold the College of Professional Studies and Concord into Kaplan proper. In that case the North Central accreditation would probably be extended to include the other two units. But that hasn't happened yet, if it ever does.
