Help I have over 48 credit hours from a Illinois Junior College. Due to my dyslexia I have serious problems with Math and Science. What college would you recommend that I could EARN a Bachelor degree in that would not require much algebra? I have taken and passed a Biology 101 class with a lab. I would even consider a distance AA that would help me through.
I've heard of a place in Vermont named Landmark College that caters exclusively to people with various learning disabilities. I don't know if they have any distance learning programs but if you contacted them they might be able to direct you further. Good luck, Jack
I finished my B.A. in liberal arts (emphases in literature and psychology) at the former Regents College (now Excelsior College) with only 6 hours of mathematics courses: business math and college algebra. At the time, I think there was an option for students with mild learning disabilities to waive the time limit and use a calculator on some exams (I didn't take advantage of this because I actually do better without a calculator, but I seem to remember being given the option at one point due to my diagnosed ADD). You might look into this. Good luck! Peace, ------------------ Tom Head www.tomhead.net
Dear Todd, I indeed echo the excellent advice given to you by Br. Tom. I would also advice that you look into the independent studies classes offered by Ohio University; there are many ways to earn credit for a math class at this university, including contract learning. Also, if you want to take a math class via open book, you might want to consider Colorado Community College Online. Once completed, you can transfer these clases to your appropiate program, fulfilling the math requirement in the process. I hope this helps.
