First off I want to say this board is awesome. I love all the information that I have found on it. I have really been up in the air about a school to attend in the spring time. I think I am now trying to decide between Ellis College and Regis University. I want to get a degree in finance and hopefully work in a bank. I want to get my MBA but I am looking at the shor term of getting a bachelors. I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on these schools? I am not sure where I am going to be living when I get out of the military.... maybe back in michigan and I just want a degree that is recongized b/c I will be starting at an entry level position so I want something that would help me stand out. I will also take other school suggestions. Thanks again for all the help.

I attended K-State but tranfered to Excelsior. If you're still in the service, as I was when I transfered, I'd recommend Excelsior, Charter Oak or Thomas Edison. You can take CLEP and DANTES tests for free and most education officers have study guides available. You can speed up your progress and possibly finish your bachelor's while your still in service and then spend your GI bill on a really good graduate program. Here's a short guide:

    1. Crash your way through a Big Three (Excelsior, TESC or COSC) program as quickly as possible through testing. You should find a degree at one of these that matches your interests.

    2. Study and live and breath the GRE, MAT or required test for the grad school of your choice to get a good score.

    3. Apply and go to the best graduate program you can get in to and live and breath that program on any GI Bill money you have when you get out. After all, a master's degree only takes a year or two.

With a BS from anywhere and a great MBA or other graduate degree and a DD214 you should be at the top of the game when you start looking for work. Good luck.

Dave: If you still need your undergraduate degree take a look at DePaul University and their online BA program www.snlonline.net It is a school with broad recognition and more than a century of history.

For the MBA take a look at Regis. I have completed half of the general MBA, will grauate next year, and am pleased with it. It's the same as their on campus program and they have provided distance education since the mid 1990s. The instructors are responsive, the sessions fast paced, and the classes are challenging.

Hi Dave - Sorry, still no personal information from me as I have no Business degree experience. However, you may want to look at the programs offered at the University of Massachusetts,
    http://www.umassonline.com
They have several Bachelors level Business degrees as well as a top flight MBA program, all 100% online. In any case, good luck.

Have always had great admiration for anyone in business. There is a substantial amount of math in that field and math is just not my speciality, ha!

    Dave-

Try Empire State College, this is a school in thr SUNY (State University of New York) system. They offer bachelor programs in Business econimics and management and you can gear your degree towards finance. I concentrated on Accounting. If you go through the center for distance learning everything is done either online, via email or regular mail. This might have changed since I graduated in 2003. Check out heir web sigth at www.esc.edu They are RA thru missdle states. ESC also offers a MBA program, but the last time I looked their were 4 short residencies.

As far as your MBA, look at Touro University International. I received my MBA in 15 months totally online. The program is not easy and is all paper based. They are also RA. Touro also offers a BA program. The good thing about Touor is that their are no books to buy, everything is on CD-Rom.

There are a couple of other members on the board who graduated from Touro. Do a search on Touro, you will find alot of infomation.
