After reading one of John Bear's books, I have decided to pursue a master's in distance learning! I have a techology background, and I think I would enjoy integrating all the pieces together. My question (your opinion): which of the following have the best distance learning programs (...and would probably be the best places to learn about it): U of London (UK) Open University (UK) Athabasca U (Canada) Cal State Hayward (US) Most of the US programs are very expensive, am I missing any good program?? Many thanks for the good forum.
Well, I'll let you decide which, if any, of these are good, but here goes. Capella University www.capella.edu Deakin University www.deakin.edu.au Florida State University http://online.fsu.edu Jones International University www.international.edu University of Maryland University College www.umuc.edu/gen/virtuniv.html Nova Southeastern University www.nova.edu University of Phoenix http://online.uophx.edu Royal Roads University www.royalroads.ca University of Southern Queensland www.usqonline.com.au
If "Educational Technology Leadership" is close enough, consider George Washington University's Master's in that. They're a top-25 school and total tuition is just $12,000 -- a steal! -=Steve=-
In the filed of Instructional Technology (or Educational Technology), Florida State is regarded as having the best known program, however, much of the research and distance learning publications are coming from Michael Simonsen in the Dept. of Instrucitonal Technology & Distance Education at Nova Southeastern. You would likely have a good experience with all of the programs already listed. I am not familiar with Royal Roads, but the others are respectable institutions.
