This post isn't really about distance learning it more of a shameless plug for a school my daughter is attending in Canada.

I thought it might be of interest to those struggling with the rising cost of attending a good school in the United States. The information may be helpful for those who may have or know a young person looking for a college to attend.

My daughter just started graduate studies at the University of Western Ontario and I was impressed with them throughout the process. She visited the campus twice and was thrilled with her reception each time. The campus is very beautiful (been there myself when I dropped her off) and the education system is very similar to that in the USA. The school is rated very high by Macleans and after her experience, I wasn't surprised when Maclean's (the equivelant of USN&WR) gave them one of the few good ratings for student services that were given to one of the big national research universities.

Costs are a fraction of what a private school (and some publics)would run in the states and the system is very similar to that in the USA. You can use US student aid to pay for attendence. For those looking for an alternative to the outrageous fees being charged here in the USA or if your kid is looking for a change of pace I would encourage you to look north.

    Multiplicity, sort of

Incidentally, there's a "Stephen Foerster" on the Economics faculty of UWO. Despite the same spelling of both first and last name, I am not he. We get in each other's way in Google searches all the time, so while I don't know him I expect he curses the day I was born (or named, at least). :)
