I asked Mike Lambert at DETC. He has been in touch with owner Grayce Lee, who is OK. According to DETC requirements, all records have been stored off-site and are safe. She will be in touch with all students shortly.

Thank you for this information, Dr. Bear.

In a thread many moons ago, you seemed to indicate you had a positive opinion of Southwest. Is that still true?

Yes, for many years, I thought (and wrote) that Southwest was one of the better options for people who believed they could benefit from an unaccredited school. I'd been in touch with founder Reg Sheldrick for more than 20 years, since he founded Newport University in California, although we only met in person once, 7 or 8 years ago, and liked him. Southwest was one of the very very few schools without recognized accreditation that never made a misleading accreditation claim, or claimed accreditation from an unrecognized agency. I was very pleased when they applied for, and eventually got, DETC accreditation.

It's great to hear that they will contact existing students, but what about folks like myself who are in the process of admission?
