Does anyone have any information on this accreditation organization. I have been advised that the Department of Defense accepts graduates of its "North Central Institute" in Clarkesville, TN for positions in Fort Campbell, KY. Please advise Mike
I think you mean the Council on Occupational Education. This is a DOE-recognized accrediting agency with a fairly narrow scope: (From DOE page www.ed.gov/offices/OPE/accreditation/natlinstandspec.html#oe) “Scope of recognition: the accreditation and preaccreditation ("Candidate for Accreditation ") of non-degree granting postsecondary occupational/vocational institutions and those postsecondary occupational/vocational education institutions that grant the applied associate degree in specific vocational/occupational fields.” From COE’s website: www.council.org/AboutUs/aboutus.asp?page=who_we_serve “Who We Serve The Council is unique among accrediting agencies due to the diversity of its membership and service recipients. Our target postsecondary institutional accredited members include: Public technical education institutions Private non-profit and for-profit job preparation schools Job Corps Centers Military technical training centers National defense schools Federal agency institutions Corporate and industry training units Community-based training programs” Mark
Sorry that I did not refer to the organization correctly. Thanks a whole lot for the information...when I was in the military I was enrolled in that college for about a year and have a few credits from them. I am wondering will they be transferable into a graduate school program. I noticed that they are DOE-recognized so it is legitimate. Thank you
