    Greetings...

I've been hanging out and reading posts for months... great stuff!

I was wondering if anybody has any feedback on Western International University? Has anyone looked at this school? They are owned by the Apollo Group... looks like a "less advertised" version of UoP.

    Any thoughts?

That's just what it is. Apollo bought them 10 or more years ago, at a time when their growth model looked to be acquiring lots of things, rather than just expanding Phoenix. But that was back when Phoenix was only in 4,000 cities, not the current 7 million. Or whatever.

I second what Dr. Bear said. WIU uses the 8 week course format, and does not require group work (unlike UOP)

They are very very small in comparison, and are also accredited by North Central.

Guys... thanks for responding. I couldn't ask advise of more qualified individuals. Thank you.

As it is, I happened upon Western International University last evening.

The reason I’m asking… my wife is considering Baker College (good program, hates the name), CSU Dominguez Hills (well known in California, good program, great price), University of Phoenix (good program, over-marketed, blah, blah, blah) or University of Alabama North(???) as her current choices for an MBA w/ Marketing emphasis.

Now, WIU is in the mix. BTW, each program above provides the utility she needs. So it it not a matter of content.

We're trying to narrow down the very best choice based on name recognition and perception in the marketplace.

    Any input will be appreciated.

A little background… She’s a 1983 California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo graduate with a B.S. in Applied Art and Design, working for 25 years and currently a Communications Director for a billion dollar company. She wants to make the jump to VP of Marketing… somewhere.

I'm surprised that Apollo has kept Western International University going.

At the time they bought WIU, WIU was a local on-the-ground competitor in Phoenix. Sperling makes a brief comment about it in his book ("Rebel with a Cause"). They bought WIU to neutralize a bothersome competitor.
