I hadn't realized there was a separate MIGS forum. I've just noticed that, following my recent poring over all of the main forum's threads and discovery of a thread discussing MIGS proprietor Sheila Danzig. When I recently queried folks about the names of folks who are infamous in this field, one name I was hoping to be reminded of was Danzig's. Before I examine the MIGS forum in the next day or two, would anyone like to give any sort of overview of Danzig's career, any other universities she has been involved with, and why MIGS is so interesting it gets a forum all its own? I think such information would be rather instructive, and in any case, perhaps there are other neophytes examining the main forum who need to be apprised of the work being done in the MIGS forum.

I believe it is simply because the well respected and sometimes controversial Dr. Steve Levicoff was threatened with a lawsuit by MIGS. This ended up giving MIGS far more attention than it really deserved. It is just a two-bit operation that is struggling to even get started. Unfortunately for MIGS the extra attention only exposed more MIGS weaknesses, e.g., it wasn't operating legally.

I'll also take some of the credit and blame. When I got started with MIGS, I agreed to talk about it publicly. That sounded good--I thought I was getting involved with a Capella- or Touro-style operation. But when MIGS did sooooooo many stupid things, I was there as an otherwise very active board participant and convenient target for others' wrath towards MIGS. While I vigorously defended the notion of earning a degree via guided independent study from the CEU, I did not foresee that there would be no effort to carry out what was promised, not to mention sooooooo many stupid things. (Sooooooo many that I want to say it over and over.)

It may very well be possible to earn a properly issued Ph.D. from the CEU via study with MIGS. But even at "free" it was too expensive, kn'awmean?
