I want to complete an undergrad degree. Probably in liberal arts. I have 48 credits down, 2 through CLEP, 2 through TESC courses, and 30 through community college.

    Hi there Brontosaurus

Welcome! I have a DL general studies degree from Indiana. I transferred in 90 hours from other schools.

I earned my BS from Charter Oak State College. They accept 120 transfer credits for a degree. I was able to earn most of my credits through CLEP and DANTES exams. I guess you know about TESC becasue you took 2 TESC exams, but Excelsior is another good option to transfer all your credits for a degree.

Have you seen this website - http://bain4weeks.com/ ?

I've been considering a school other than TESC because of the math requirement for a liberal arts/general studies BA. I've never been good at math, other than daily use math (balance checking account, paying invoices, mark up/down, p&l, accounts payable, etc.). None of the math that I need in daily business deals with finite math. I don't use algebra, trig, etc. I never studied it in hs and never gave two-sh!ts about it.

I've tried the CLEP Math twice and didn't pass. The first time was a total guess style, the second attempt I actually tried to figure out the problems, to no avail.

    Welcome:

Believe it or not, Fort Hays University has a degree (B.A.) that requires no math(or at least very basic math). I have the link at home. Will I will post it this evening.

    Take care,

    Abner

Thanks, I found the site. It is my understanding that I would need to complete 30 credits from the school. Not that I couldn't handle 10 classes, but I would rather pay $65.00 for a 3 credit CLEP than pay $XXX.XX for the class.

I'm also considering portfolio assessment and it looks like COSC allows for far more credits this way than TESC allow. Anybody have experience with this?

Which is less expensive, portfolio assessment or CLEPs?

I thought about portfolio assessment and thought it would be easier to take the CLEP's (less effort). COSC requires a math but they took my General Math CLEP and that is all I needed. To study I used the Comex prep book and it worked great.

Ted - You amaze me with the listings you give

I, too, chose CLEP over portfolio assessment because it saved time to do so.

It's nothing much. All I do is go to the Subject Index of Bears' Guide, flip to the major(s) requested, type in the names of the schools offering said major at the degree level requested with the relevant Bears' Guide page number, then flip through Bears' Guide to find those web addresses that I've not memorized as yet, and vroom, degreeinfo users have a consolidated list of schools offering said degree with weblinks.

Where is that search function? Is it on this site, or a site for Bear's guide?
