Let's see. Classes start in a couple of weeks in Guyana. The President is in Hamilton, Ontario. The Vice President is in Toronto. The Chancellor is in Windsor, Ontario. The Clinical Dean is in Toronto. And the other Chancellor is in Aurora, Illinois. Perhaps they're all about to converge.

Six of the 14 faculty members are psychiatrists. Only one is listed as basic science.

Students buy their lab coats, blood pressure instruments, stetoscopes (sic) and other supplies from a service in Etobicoke, Ontario:

This place is looking more and more Canadian than it is Guyanian.

A few years ago, there was another medically-related institution, the Broadmore University College of Pharmacy, that clearly seemed to be run from Canada, but was using an address in Belize. They still seem to be in business:

    Coincidence?

You know, as I read this thread and notice that at least two of the biggest names in knowing who's who and what's what (and what's fake and what's not) posting therein, I happen to know what it all means; but if I take a giant step back from it and try to read it through the eyes of a newbie, I'm worried that s/he will get to this point in the thread and will, with furrowed brow, ask himself/herself: "So... wait... I'm still confused. Is it fake or not?"

You guys are so close to all this that you may forget that someone out there who's only now beginning to understand what accreditation truly means, and who hasn't yet purchase his/her first Bears Guide, kinda' needs to have it all spelled-out for him/her or, absent that, have someone, somewhere along the line, just say, in simple, declarative sentences, what the bottom line is.

Just a thought, mind you... more of a helpful suggestion than a criticism.

    Carry on. ;)

    what it all means:

for Americans and Canadians you need to check to see if your proposed medical school meets the following criteria:

    1. IMED recognition

    http://imed.ecfmg.org/

    2. WHO recognition

    http://www.who.int/hrh

    3. That your state or province recognizes the school.

    http://www.fsmb.org/

or be eligible to sit for the exam in Canada

    http://www.mcc.ca/english/examinations/

There are literally dozens of questionable schools popping up at the current time. If you don't check, you could find yourself with a medical degree that won't qualify you to do anything.

And do check your physician's diplomas. I did. That "doctor" had a fake degree from a real Mexican university. Bye bye. Quack quack.* Now I have a real physician with a real degree from a real Philippine med school. Happy happy.

*No, Neil, it's not about you.

Dr Paul Cherian, Associate Dean for Medical Education at St Christopher's.

For those who don't know St. Chris it is part of a Senegal university (University of El Hajj Ibrahim Niass ) but actually runs its operation from Luton England.

SPC partnership with med school hastily called off

St. Christopher's diplomas said to be meaningless in N.J.

    Tuesday, March 30, 2004

    By Ken Thorbourne
    Journal staff writer

A partnership between St. Peter's College in Jersey City and an
overseas medical school was killed last night, two weeks after it was
announced, amid mounting concerns that its graduates would not be
recognized as medical doctors by the state of New Jersey.

Touting the benefit of adding international flair to one's education,
St. Peter's College officials had announced in mid-March an agreement
with St. Christopher's School of Medicine in Luton, England, to train
    medical students in seven years.

Students would spend the first three years obtaining an undergraduate
degree in biology at St. Peter's College, and the next four at the
medical school to complete their doctorates in medicine, according to
    the agreement.

But an investigation by The Jersey Journal raised serious questions
about the 4-year-old medical school's ability to keep its end of the
    bargain.

Asked about the medical school yesterday, an official with a national
organization of college registrars and enrollment officers said he was
    very familiar with St. Christopher's.

"I know what it purports to be," said Dale Gough, director of
international education services for the American Association of
    Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.

"They aren't really a medical school that is recognized anywhere. The
embassy in Senegal said the school is in the back of a doctor's
office. The U.K., I believe, has asked them to stop listing offices in
    England," Gough said.

And an official with the state's Board of Examiners said the medical
school's graduates would likely not be accepted at any three-year
medical residency program at a New Jersey hospital, a prerequisite to
becoming a full-fledged doctor in this state.

"It raises questions when a school is training students at a place
other than where it is licensed to be a school," said Ian Orr,
executive director of the state's Board of Examiners, the licensing
body for physicians in the state.

The school is chartered in Senegal, Africa, even though it lists its
main teaching location as Luton, England, located 20 minutes outside
of London by train, Orr said.

    (excerpted above)

Why I showed this is to show that these schools seem to pop up out of each other like a virus.

    Hard to Believe But ...

the AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MEDICINE , by virtue of the damage that can be caused by untrained M.D.s, is a bigger fraud than Knightsbridge (http://www.knightsbridgeuniversity.com/people.html) and "Dr." Neil Hayes (http://wairarapa.co.nz/times-age/weekly/2002/ducks.html) of "brown teal duck" fame. As far as I know, Knightsbridge doesn't offer a medical degree or any degree in the health sciences.

Who says that "Dr." Neil Hayes nevers gets a sincere compliment on Degreeinfo?

No, it doesn't look Guyanese at all. I suppose I could ask contacts in Guyana if they could get a statement from the Ministry of Education there that it's BS, but I hardly think it's necessary.

    Re: chancellor of the school

Dr. Paul Cherian was originally the Dean of Ross University on the island of Dominica. He left to be assistant dean at St Chris. he was passed over for a promotion to Dean and quit in protest. St Chris is not liable for what he does following that.

Since the article in NJ, a few interesting developments have come to light.

    1. 2 graduates of st christopher's have obtained residency in NJ without any problems and the state medical board (who Ian Orr works for) has stated that they will license st. christopher's graduates on a case by case basis.

    2. The allegations against st christopher's senegal campus has been proven to be completely false:
