2nd Bachelors - Business

I have almost completed all of the requirements for my BA in Psych from TESC. I am leaning towards a second Bachelors - a BS in Business and going back for an MBA later. I'd prefer to start with a BS instead of going straight to a Masters because my husband and I will be moving in 6 months, after his graduation, and I'd like to not be in school at the time - as work hours will get very long.

While I plan to do distance learning this time around, it is important to me that the next school I enroll at is a B&M - I want a degree that isn't obviously DL. There are obviously many B&Ms offering distance learning bachelors programs. Ideally I am looking for a test-friendly B&M - is there such a thing? I've completed a large percentage of my BA in Psych through testing and I have loved it. Obviously I am not going to find a school as test friendly as the big-3, but ideally I'd like to get at least some of the business classes done through testing. I have taken quite a few business courses as free electives for my psych degree, so in theory I've lowered the number of courses I will have to take with a second Bachelors.

Price is a consideration, but I'm willing to pay more for a more flexible program through a better known school. A big name like U of Illinois or Nebraska would be better as far as I am concerned than an obscure state school.

Am I asking for something that doesn't exist, or am I being too broad?

Somebody recently re-posted an old list of mine of distance learning bachelor's degrees in business (including specific majors within business) for Vixen at: http://forums.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20645 . I posted the weblinks in a separate post (post was too big - over 10,000 characters - to have posted school names, weblinks, and business subdisciplines offered in one post). Hopefully from that array you can find something that suits your needs.

Wanted to add that a program that allows me to go at my own pace would be fine, as an alternative to a school that allows testing credits. I'm not stuck on the testing itself as much as I hate being forced to slow down to the semester time schedule instead of working at my own rate.

Thanks very much Ted, I appreciate the link to that post. I think I had seen that one before - but I have zero idea what type of distance programs those schools offer, or how test friendly they are, etc. While I'm fine with going down the list and contacting each of them, I thought I'd stop in here first to see if anyone knows any specific B+M schools that would allow me to complete most through testing - I haven't seen a post of that sort if it exists.

I know you're specifically interested in big-name schools with very flexible programs, but I don't have any that come to mind right now. My significant other was looking into distance BS in Business programs a little while ago and applied to both Indiana State and Washington State. I know WSU is accredited by AACSB and ISU may be as well, I don't know for sure. I'm not sure how many credits of CLEP, DANTES, EXCELSIOR apply to either of those schools.

You might want to look at Fort Hays State University. They now offer a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management completely online and their tuition is pretty cheap for undergrad coursework. They will also be offering an online MBA in the future and have applied to AACSB for accreditation.

This link will take you to the website about the BBA at FHSU:

    www.fhsu.edu/virtualcollege/bba.shtml

This link shows you which tests and nontraditional credits are acceptable at FHSU:

    www.fhsu.edu/accelerate/

It appears that several of the courses in the BBA at FHSU can be met by utilizing CLEP/DANTES/EXCELSIOR tests, however I'm not sure the max number of test credits that can be applied to a bachelor's degree at FHSU.

    Hope this helps!
