    Hello everyone!

I have been a reader of this forum for more than 5 months now. Infact i must say that I have become addicted to checking for new posts every hour.

I am currently in a fix as to which program to select from the above mentioned. I started Heriot Watt distance learning MBA this year and took one Module- Accounting and scored 92% in that. But during this time I came across this website and started to do some research. Eventually I came to this conclusion that in order to keep my options open I must opt for a MBA program with AACSB accreditation (I might go into academia). So I short listed two candidate programs, WBS and Henley. Now I have been accepted in both the programs. I would like to get a feedback which can help me in making the final decision.

Are there any members who are enrolled in these programs? If yes I would like to know that how do you find the program? How do you manage the workload? I am particulary interested to know about Warwick since during the first year I will have to take 5 courses, I am worried that with a 60+ hours work routine per week it would be a bit difficult to manage.

Any other comments would be highly appreciated.

Welcome aboard! Sadly, I know nothing to help answer your question, but best of luck to you.

PS. I have admired your elegant name for some time. How mellifluous!

Why the focus on AACSB? That's a U.S. standard. Unless you plan to work here, I think it's pretty irrelevant. Of course, if you want to teach in the U.S., that's another matter entirely. But for that matter, if you really want the doors to stay wide open for academia, shouldn't you be focusing on more research-oriented programs?

Examples: Manchester's DBA, Aston's DBA or PhD, Henley's DBA. All AACSB (presuming that's of great import to you), all available DL (with residencies, however).

My only knowledge about Warwick comes from a British businessman. He told me recently the program is considered top notch in the UK. It also ranks quite high in the Financial Times MBA rankings.

    Good luck

I am currently doing the Warwick DL-MBA. In fact, at the time of writing, I am on the University of Warwick campus for the annual September Seminar - a very exciting experience with about 300 students from all over the world. So you should be aware of the fact that at least once a year you will need to attend on-campus seminars for about 10 days. There are many elective modules for second and third year which can be taken as 5-day on-campus modules, some of them at partner universities worldwide. But you can stick to distance learning and online modules if you prefer.

I have nothing but praise for the content, delivery and organisation of the Warwick MBA. As for the workload: It is certainly demanding, and yes: it is difficult to manage with 60+ hours per week - but I manage somehow. I appreciate the flexibility to submit tutor marked assignments (which will not count towards the final mark for the first 5 core modules, by the way. These are 100% based on examinations) at any time I want. It is up to me at which pace I choose to do the lessons as long as I am reasonably prepared for the on-campus seminar and the exams.

I will be happy to answer any questions you might have, just send me a PM.

    Cheers,
    Dinz

    Mohammed,

Welcome aboard. I have conducted exactly the same research as yourself. Here is my first post when I was trying to decide between Warwick and Henley (and later I also considered H-W):
    Henley vs. Warwick vs.?

Here is a thread where I offer more information to a Canadain named Melanie regarding the Henley program, which is now my first choice:
    Henley info.

I actually worked for Schlumberger until December last year! (Primarily in Africa). Are SLB funding you? Will you have enough time to visit the schools for the residencies?

I have a fair bit of info on the schools, especially Henley. (I actually went to their 'MBA Open Day' recently). One of the more regular posters here (Gregg) rightly admonished me when I offered more information by PM, so let's keep it out in the open, but PM me your e-mail and I can send you some attachments which may be of interest. (Course Organiser/Syllabus etc).

Fire away with any other questions!

    All the best,

Dave C. - Now with Weatherford...;)

    Everyone,

Thanks for your time and comments, I really appreciate your inputs.

    Uncle Janko,
Thanks for admiring my name. I will pass it to my parents who should get the credit :)

    Little Fauss,

You mentioned about DBAs and Phds. Since I only hold a Bachelor's degree in Electronics, I would prefer to get an MBA first and if I get the opportunity would like to continue with a Doctorate, but it will depend on the circumstances.

Although at this time I do not intend to work in the US, but I would certainly like to keep my options open in future. With such a poor job market I cannot afford to get a degree that is not accepted in some parts of the world.

    Dr Marion,

Thanks, I have already looked into Heriot-Watt DBA, and was planning to opt for a integrated MBA-DBA with Heriot-Watt but later on decided against it because of accreditation issues. (i know this is open to debate and has been discussed again and again)

    Joi,

Thanks a lot for your kind words.

    Dinz,

It is nice to hear that someone from Warwick is on this board. i will contact you to get some more information.

    Dave C.

Thanks mate, I had seen your Warwick Vs. Henley posting long time back when I was taking courses at Heriot Watt but then because of the search engine was not able to find it again.

SLB is funding me partially (approximately 70%) and once I get the degree they will pay for the rest. I would reckon that I should have enough time, since I am workign in a location with 4 field breaks (16 days each) besides 48 days of vacation per year, so it should help to keep up with the workload.
