Not only that, NAU is located in a beautiful part of Arizona. At about 7,000 ft of elevation it's a lot like Denver in terms of climate. However, in the middle of Winter you can get in your car and drive South, out of the mountains and into a very pleasant 80 degree desert. Great skiing at Mt. Humphrey (14,000 ft.) and the Grand Canyon is well within reach. However, in the mid 1970's, when I was an exchange student at NAU, it was a bit of a culture shock to see the local "cowboys" walking through town wearing their Colts on their hips (not a "concealed" weapon). All thing considered it was a good experience. Jack
