Folks, some of you might remember my name. I’m Peter from Germany, who took the GRE Political Science subject test at the age of 20 and got 24 credits for it from Regents/Excelsior.

Finally, I graduated from Excelsior College. The degree certificate came with the mail today. I received a Bachelor of Science with a Political Science concentration. Since I ended up with a 3.77 GPA, they put a “magna cum laude” bumper sticker on my degree certificate. The certificate itself doesn’t look overwhelmingly professional. But that’s alright since I use the degree more or less as an admission ticket for graduate study.

At this time, I would like to thank a few people for their support over the years. I start with John Bear whose bible on distance education brought my attention to Regents/Excelsior College in 1998. Thanks also to the moderators of this forum who provided a shelter for all refugees from alt.education.distance.

But special thanks to Lawrie Miller. Whenever I had a question, Lawrie helped me with great effort and a lot of competence. Because of his British origin, he was able to help me a lot with my choice of graduate school. Lawrie, I owe you a big favor.

I will do a traditional masters program in international political economy at the University of Warwick in England starting in October. I’ll keep reading the board. Good luck to you all.

    Peter

Hey, great. Congratulations. I took two bachelor's degrees from Excelsior's predecessor, USNY, and they've served me well. Good luck on your master's!

Congratulations. Endeavor to keep in touch with us. It will be nice in future to know how your Excelsior experience has contributed to your graduate studies at Warwick University. I have no doubt that it will make a positive and valuable contribution to your graduate studies.

    Congrats from me also!

Did you already check your local state ministry in order to lead the degree in Germany ("nostrifizieren")?

I´m considering Excelsior also, maybe you could answer me some questions... (mye-mail-address: [email protected])

Well done, Peter. First class effort, particularly when one remembers that much of the work was done in what is for you, a foreign tongue.

Now on to a full time graduate degree at a top ranked English university . . . an outcome none to shabby, I would say.
