The logo looks more like "Marlboro University" than like "Warnborough..." [IMG]

    About Accreditation:
there is a menu point "Accreditation" - and it states pretty clearly that they have none... [IMG]

I have been corresponding with an administrative person with Warnborough University who advises that W.U. courses have transferred to over 200 U.S.A. RA universities including Harvard. Additionally, this person reports that W.U. has a physical office and study centres all over europe.

The following is a cut-and-paste from the last email I received.

"We are also heavily committed to internationalising education and ensuring
high quality as that is what we are known for. One of our alumni was made an
honorary fellow at an Oxford College on the basis of his dissertation which
he did with us, and now lectures there occasionally. Our study abroad and
undergraduate credits have been accepted at over 200 accredited US
institutions including Harvard, Yale, and most of the State universities. We
have also conducted teacher recertification courses for the University of
    Miami. etc... etc... etc..."

Since I didn't request permission from this person to post his/her quote I will not post his/her name.

If all this person says is true and much of this can be verified than Warnborough University might be a legit program for many to consider.

    Regards to all,

    Wes

Before recommending wonderful instituions like this one, you should do your research.
This is a quote from UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION WASHINGTON, D.C.

    "
In the Matter of WARNBOROUGH COLLEGE:

According to the termination notice, SFAP determined that the College was not eligible to participate in the federal student financial assistance programs and, therefore, termination was mandated. SFAP alleged that in its application for re-certification as an eligible institution, the College claimed that it was a degree-granting institution of higher learning. However, SFAP received notices from the Education Department of the British Council, Washington D. C., dated September 29, 1995, and the Department for Education and Employment, Westminster, London, England, dated October 2, 1995, both indicating that the College was not authorized to grant degrees in Great Britain"

I rec'ved this from the UK NARIC. In part:

In the UK a university must have degree awarding power from the British
Government (the Department for Education and Skills). It is also possible
for institutions to exist but award degrees from other universities (ie the
    other university accredits the course).

However, Warnborough University (Friars House, London) is not listed as
either having degree awarding power or as a recognised higher education
providing courses awarded by external institutions.

The only information I can find about this institution is that it was
previously called Warnborough College and had some legal wranglings in the
mid 1990s over claims regarding its status.

Therefore this institution is not a British degree awarding institution, and
I suggest that you proceed with caution.

  9. An interesting data point from this same document:
Walsh is chancellor of Greenwich University; I'm not sure when he began (i.e., whether he was associated with Greenwich at the same time as his appearance as barrister for Warnborough in this 1995).

Thank you for your clarification! Please be aware I said "Might" not "Is" as a qualifier knowing that other NG member might know more than I.

Also, if Warnborough is a degree mill they're asking top dollar for their degrees. $18,000 US dollars for a research doctorate.

This has been more than adequately discussed on the old a.e.d - I don't want a writ so I'll make no further comment.

  15. You can go to http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search
and search for the word Warnborough
    appearing in the newsgroup alt.education.distance

    Also of interest:
Item from Oxford University Gazette, 7 November 1996 http://info.ox.ac.uk/gazette/1996-7/weekly/071196/news/list.htm
Warnborough College closes: Warnborough College, a private institution criticised for misleading American students into thinking they were coming to study at the University, has gone into liquidation with sizeable outstanding debts. Dr Brenden Tempest-Mogg, Warnborough's founder and former president, is believed to have returned to Australia.

What You Need to Know Before You Work Abroad
Chronicle of Higher Education, October 13, 2000 http://chronicle.com/jobs/2000/10/2000101301c.htm
"...if an institution you've never heard of makes you an offer, it pays to be cautious. ...Warnborough University has a lovely Web site and an .edu address, which is supposed to be reassuring, but I went there two years ago and found that it was a one-room office in London with no degree-granting authority."
