I received a brochure today from Columbus University in New Orleans, LA, whose slogan is "Specialist in Distance Education." Several sentences caught my attention as I read through the material:

    1. "CU's degree programs...[are] not designed for students seeking employment in a profession or field that require a four or six year traditional education from a nationally or regionally accredited institution."

**Degrees are not designed for those who need accredited degrees. One wonders just how large the market is for unaccredited degrees. The HR person says, "I'm sorry John, but we can't hire you. We are looking for a candidate with an unaccredited degree."

    2. "CU is accredited by WAUC...a global accreditation association founded to promote global standards in higher education....CU makes no guarantee of acceptability of transfer credits."

**Global standards? No guarantee of transfer?

    3. "CU's Law program is...not designed to be used by any person to enter the practice of law or to be used in preparation to take any bar examination...to practice law."

**Do people earn law degrees just to say "Look Maw, I have a law degree? Can't use it though!"

    4. "The payment plan option is interest free, however, a $25.00 processing fee per payment is included."

**Payment is $195 per month, which appears to be approximately 12.5% (interest???) per payment!

    Specialist???

Todd Smith asks, "What is the address on the brocher..."

They have used a P.O. box. Under the Freedom of Information Act, one can learn the street address of commercial boxholders. When a colleague did that for Columbus, and went to that address, there was an empty office. He went back to the post office, which didn't have any interest in this apparent violation of federal law.

The actual location, at least when I went by a couple of years ago, was a martial arts dojo, where the person I spoke to denied any knowledge of Columbus.

A quick search at www.google.com will give you the information you need. Just type in Columbus University, it will be the one in
    New Orleans.

Columbus University is owned and OPERATED by federal prisoner, Ex. Senator Michael O'keefe, the have a physical address and have set up as a non-profit organization the Kwan-Tai Foundation. The Dean of Faculty there was just indited for fraud, research the Canal Street Cartel....CU is a huge scam that goes very deep!

Columbus University, and an upcomming Lexington, are currnetly run by a large number of people who also run a variety of other businesses, including a law firm, an accounting firm, etc. and have a paper train of twenty years worth of failed businesses and not-for-profits. Pull Kwan-Ti's IRS 990 from Guide Star, there is an accounting firm that they pay to do thier books, that firm is run by people involved in Kwan Ti or some of the related business. The Lousiana Sec. of State records are online and tracking them down is pretty easy. Kwan Ti also does some book keeping work for the either the department of health or department of menatal health in La.

Also, look at the LaCrosse University website. It claims that the same man founded both, La. Board of Regents confirmed this. The LaCrosse U. catalog uses some of the same photos as the Columbus catalog.

I was surfing the net and learned that an internet university was established back in 1981, and now it is for sale. I wonder if this internet university belongs to the aforementioned individuals:

I would be fairly confident that the school for sale is Southwest University. The last time I talked to owner-founder Reg Sheldrick, his health was not good, and he was seriously considering selling.

Southwest is sort of the California Coast of the Bayous. Completely legitimate, sincere, real work required -- and, come to think of it, unlike California Coast, I believe Southwest never made any misleading accreditation claims.
