I started College back in 1993, took few courses, got married then started college again and got into the nursing program at Houston Community College in fall 1999 but had to drop out due to pregnancy/medical condition after 1st semester. Since 2001 I have been applying for the Nursing problem but I have been able to get in. I have over 60 college credit from Houston Community College and over 10 years of experience working as a support manager for Wal-Mart /SAMs and now working for MD Anderson as a customer health support (dietiec/Nutrition department). My Husband thinks that I can get Bachelor with in 8 months from accredited online College/University. I am interested in getting a degree in Health Education or Health Administration or Business Administration (management).

I like University of Phoenix but they are too expensive for me, I can’t afford to pay $1000 per course and it will cost me over $20,000 for Bachelor degree.

I have done some research on the internet and there are many colleges/Universities are offering BS & MS degrees base on life experience.

    Few Questions:

Do you think it is worth getting degree BBA (Management) from Almeda University? (http://www.almedauniversity.org) or is there another University which you recommend?

Is there an accredited university that offers Health Administration or Business Degree with in very short time period (less then a year)?

I came across these terms on the internet, can anyone explain these to me?
    COLLEGE LEVEL EXAMINATION PROGRAM (CLEP)
    DANTES SUBJECT STANDARDIZED TESTS (DSSTs)
    Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE)
Thomas Edison College Examination Program (TECEP)

    1. Probably not, since Almeda is unaccredited.

    2. Yes, there are. I will compose a list.

    3. Not sure, but I'll be sure to post the weblinks on my degree list so you can find out.

    4. They are:

    a. College Level Examination Program is a testing out procedure developed by the College Boards.

    b. DANTES (Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Educational Support) Subject Standardized Tests are another form of testing out procedure. This one was developed by and for the military, but they are now available to civilians.

    c. Well, here, there are two different ECEs. Educational Credential Evaluators is an organization that evaluates non-US educational credentials and advises as to what US degree they are equivalent to. The other ECE is the Excelsior College Examination program, which is a "testing-out" procedure which is run by Excelsior College, formerly Regents College, formerly part of the University of the State of New York. Excelsior is one of the "Big Three" schools that pioneered the concept of degrees by examination ("testing out" procedures) in the US.

    d. Thomas Edison College Examination Program is another testing out procedure and it is run by Thomas Edison State College, another of the Big Three.
