Folks - I am trying to select between these two institutions for my MBA. Does anyone have any thoughts towards pros and cons? Cost is not an issue. Would appreciate any input. Thanks.
Flip a coin. Maybe a marginal advantage to Col State, but very close. Both AACSB, both legit programs. Where you go depends more on where you might plan to work; as between two good closely-matched programs, name recognition in your region should probably be the deciding factor for you.
I have actually been considering Colorado State for an MBA. I believe it's AACSB-accredited, which is the gold standard for business schools. The courses are also delivered on video, the last time I looked. I enjoy that method of learning, because for some reason I seem to grasp the information much faster. I think it may also have a price advantage over Texas A&M.
Unless Texas A&M-Commerce tuition has gone up recently(and it may have). Both programs are about equally priced. I'd venture to say that I would be more inclined to attend Texas A & M-Commerce for mere name recognition alone. I am not saying that Colorado State is a bad school but the Texas A & M name stands out(and I live in New England).
TAMU-Commerce is not the same as Texas A&M College Station. US News rankings show TAMU-Commerce as a 4th tier school while TAMU is ranked 62nd nationally. TAMU's Mays School of Business is ranked 32nd while TAMU-Commerce's College of Business & Technology isn't ranked. I think Colorado State's name stands out more when compared to TAMU-Commerce... Don't get me wrong, I think they have a solid MBA program.
Great point! but it doesn't diinish what I was saying in the first place. I realize that May school isn't Tamu-Commerce. I really wonder how many people outside of texas are going to realize it though, esspecially in HR. The name commerce of course is representative of the City Texas A&M Commerce is in. My point is outside of Texas this might not be as well known. The name certainly is recognizable. Think Kent State how many campus's are there do you think most people outside of Ohio realize that?
